8 ball on break 3 consecutive times

That break reminds me of a guy that I talked to at a tournament, he was telling me in 8 ball if you hit the second ball with low right hand english (breaking from the right side) it gives you the best chance at making the 8 ball on the break. Tried it a couple times, never seemed to work, scratched more than anything but maybe it's time to try it again and see if I can actually get it down. lol

I always draw the cue ball when using the 2nd ball break.
And hardly ever scratch.

I doubt this. We all tend to overestimate our successes.

Upon seeing Tom at one of the amateur league things in vegas someone asked him about the so called 8 break. He claims that if you hit it right, that is a good speed, keep control and hit the second ball as full as possible a high level player will probably average 1 in 10 and someone "in stroke and on fire" might average 1 in 5. Not a fluke, but a long term 10-20% 8 on the break...

Anyway that's just what he said when asked the question.

I was using the 8 break for a while and it works pretty well, but I wasn't satisfied with the ball spread. I find I can break and run far more consistantly with a nearly full on break. The side break tends to push a lot of the balls to the same side of the table.

After watching the video, yes making 3 of them on the break is very kewl and probably happens maybe once or twice ever in someones life. It's another reason why I hate the APA lol.

When I did play the APA 8ball leagues, we had a couple guys who only would go for the 2nd ball break so they could try and luck in the 8ball.

One guy bragged endlessly about how he had 15 8ball breaks, since he started playing. Which at the time was about 4 or 5 years. Well, after hearing this over n over, anytime someone made an 8ball on the break, I finally turned to him and said, well ya know, I have 14 8ball break n runs, in the 2 years I've been playing.

I mean yea making the 8ball on the break is always fun to see, but whats more inpressive, having 15 8ball snaps, or having basically the same amount of Break n runs in 8ball?

Here is the diagram...

You guys that do not like this break because it does not spread the rack sufficiently for a break and run, keep in mind when you are playing a higher level player, sometimes this break can HELP you keep the other guy from running out.

Keep in mind, 8 ball isn't just break and run like 9 ball...there is a bit more strategy to it.

Well, when talking about 8 balls on the break, i had an amazing day once. My father used to run a bar here locally and I was working as the bouncer. He called me one morning around 11 and told me that they just had 2 new tables brought in and asked if i wanted to be the first to play on them before the bar opened at 1. So i came down and there were a few of us there and we started to play. Starting around the 3 rack or so I made 3 eight balls on the break in a row. That wasnt even the amazing part. I must have had the break zeroed in because I made 13 EOB in a matter of 3 hours or so, it was beautiful. I still make the eight on the break alot but have never been able to repeat the outcomes of that day.
