8 Point Preview - Nearly Complete

I originally posted the forearm for this in January. I wasn't sure if I was going to finish it or not. I decided to finish it up and am almost done. I still need to inlay 2 ivory diamonds in the butt below the long points and one below the short points. I was also thinking of putting black & silver dots in the purple, but my wife seems to think it doesn't need it. I've been trying to decide what to do in the points and can't come up with anything, so I'll probably leave it alone. All white is Ivory (except the Veneers).

Also, the rings have 8 ivory circles instead of the four on my other cues. When I originally designed the rings, my intention was to have 8, but I thought they would be too close together on the smaller rings. I think they look good like this.

Wow!!!

Beautiful work Tony!

You said you couldn't come up with anything for the points. I've wondered how it would look to put a row of dots inside my points with the size of the dots decreasing as they advanced up the point. Just a thought.

Super

Wow

What can I say, this cue looks awesome. Usually I'm not a big fan of dot inlays but I must say this looks great. Keep up the great work. Thanks for posting these pictures.

The colors are not my favorite, But the work seems to be clean. I also really like the ringwork. nice looking cue

Looks exceptional....I would agree, the forearm can probably stand alone just fine with all the ring work. It might look odd with the inlays being in ebony in the butt and then PH up front. Great job !!

You have to post some pictures of the finished cue. It looks great now and it will be outstanding with the finish on it.

Thanks for the compliments. For those that have asked, the cue is not for sale. It was gone before it was started and I almost threw it out because of my milling machine being off a hair, but wanted to experiment with a few things. I figured this would be a good one to use for that.

I adjusted the milling machine, so the next one, which is a 6 pointer I'm doing this week should be perfect. The only thing I don't like about this one is where the short points run into the long ones, they are off from side to side a hair. Everything else about the cue is perfect. All points are dead even and I don't think you could find a glue line in the veneers with a magnifying glass.

It sat around for quite a while before I finished it up, mainly because I wasn't sure of what to do with the butt. I like what I did on this one and will probably do a few more with similar designs. I have one similar I'm about to start with Snakewood and Ebony Points.

The colors work real nice on that cue, IMO. The cue will really pop when you put the finish on it. Are ya going to go with black leather wrap?

Hey Tony looks real nice.I guess I won't have to check your trash barrel at night anymore. How many silver dots in the cue?Looks like at least 100!!

That cue looks great!!

I like the color combos, and the design. The cue looks great. I remember seeing this one in the gallery earlier this year, and wondered what ever happened to it.

Keep up the good work!!

Z cue

Nice work Tony. The blue really pops out in those veneers. I especially like the tiny dots in the butt cap. It's a very nice little detailed touch. Keep up the good work.

i like the butt work... ( nice cue )

Tony I have say that the butt sleeve in that cue is just awesome. Dont forget to post pics once its done. Good work as always,

Thanks Dustin. I'm slow. I hope to have the rest of the inlays done in a week or so. I think I'm going to do more than I said in the post. Probably something small in all of the points and some stuff in the purple too. We'll see how my mood is when I get to it.

I have a bunch set for inlays. Hope to start on them in the next week or so.

Butt of the cue is finally inlaid. Pin's installed. I'll let the purple brighten up a few days and it's ready to go.

I was going to put a bunch of smaller diamonds in the purple, but my wife said no. I have to let her have her way sometimes.

Those are some sharp diamonds did you have to knife them in? Seeing all of your cues Tony just makes me feel like a big slacker. Keep up the great work.
