That's a problem....but what can you do?

It's true on the payout breakdown. The bar does not own the tables. They are owned by progressive enterntainment. Progressive will not allow us to open the tables. But they did agree to throw back in the money as a gesture to the tournament. Generally players do put in the added money in a bar box tournament. Unless it's a big bar with a lot of extra cash to through around.

The Fast Eddies Tour adds $1750 to each tournament, but they can afford it due to the size of the tournament and the bar. The rest of the business that they can do on the side more than pays for it. Then again they also have great sponsors that contribute as well...

I haven't been to a lot of bar boxes around here, but I know up in Missouri when I played it was based similar to the way I'm doing it, And even if a player does spend $30 to $40 in quarters(equals the same as a $50-$70 entry) there playing for the rest of the money everyone else is putting in the tables minus a few bucks. It's like were renting 4 bar boxes for $120 for 2 days. Seems like a good deal to me.

It's split quarters now that way if you lose to say Chen 9-0 and then TJ 7-0 and go two and out you have only spent a total of $33 including the $25 entry. The further you make it in the tournament the more you will have to spend, but that's why I'm making the payout the way I am.

I know personally I don't like green fees, and everyone please keep in mind that this is a nice little bar with pool tables in it. It's not actually a pool hall. Bill the owner is a great guy and I'm sure once he starts having a good turnout he may even be willing to bump the money added. I hope to see everyone there!!!

Thanks,

Rack'em

A lot of bars don't own the tables, so getting them opened is a problem. I've seen tournaments with no open table, some open them after the 3rd or 4th round and some open them only at the semi finals.

The fact you got Pregressive too kick back some of the coin drop is pretty good in itself.

The bigger tourneys like state and SWAT can only add money after the Tables have been paid for since the entry fees go toward payout and venue. That's why high numbers of players and minis are so crucial. The more coins dropped = more added money

Ok

It just seemed on the flyer that the bar was adding 500-1000 when that was not the case. That is good that the owners of the Progresive tables will let ya'll get some of the money put in, back out.

It's basically all the money.......Your missing the point the money is being added...$500 added with 32 and $1000 with 64...It is considered added money and the quarters is considered part of the entry...someone please help me out here..I mean heck Bill added $100 to the pot with 9 people...so anyways...the bar is adding the money...they don't get the quarters..they may make a percentage ..oh well

Like I had said in the start of my first post the only experince I have had with a bar box tourny was at state and nationals, and they let it be known that the quarters go to the rental of the tables, of course the added money comes from league dues and other sponsers.
Hope it works out

league dues ? This tournament is not involved with a league...Just worry about my old tournament and I'll worry about this one..And please come get your bracket I don't want you to hang that over my head...my guess all of this was an attempt to make this tourny look bad so you could try to save yours..Two months ago I had 37 players at JRs and last month it was down to 17...ya'll shouldn't have messed with the format since it seemed to be working. JMO...all this because I made my tournament on the same weekend..oh man lol...

Thanks,

I think you're misinformed. The league dues go to the main orginazation, not back to a state tourney as added money

Tournament dates

rack'em zach'em said:
Okay guys the dates are set in stone....Sorry I jumped the gun a little on the new dates but we're good to go!!! October 18th and 19th(with 40 or more around there)
More tournaments means more chances of money for the players
With other more estabished tournys around the state, going on it just seems detrimental to stack local tournaments on top of one another, splitting up the remaining players in the local area.
As with last month, Clicks had the Open qualifier with 30, and the Flying Pigs inagural had 9, even down in Waco, Joseph only had 13 ands JRs had 17.
You had stated you would not have the Flying Pig tourny on Sunday, letting the local players have an opportunity to go to both of our local tournys, because of "football" but you have started a new weekly one at the Crazy 8 on Monday during Monday night football, so the argument you have that pool players will not play during a game is kind of moot, I mean all of the pool halls have big screens.
I had seen the poll you had on AZ, maby I was reading it wrong but it looked like you had responses on the 4th and 2nd weekend of the month.
I can understand if the Flying Pig were drawing a crowd of 40 plus to have to make it a two day event, but you still have to give it a chance to grow. By starting on Sunday you would get the additional promotion through out the week and the players that make the extra drive to the DFW area would have more than one tourny to play at, but if this just your personal vendatta against Andrew, why take it out on the players?
I had figured ya'll would have worked it out by now
Just a thought
Good luck regardless

Wow!

I will go back to speak with Marsha "UPL" about that , but it was how we had been informed that the league fees helped with both state and nationals.
Thankyou for input

OMG, JR Pockets is a crap hole...I ran a tournament there and played there for 4 great years whopie do....Good gosh just drop it..I took the poll off and just chose a weekend that's why it was deleted before anyone responded..Yeah small things get under my skin..and he knows what he's doing..They could unbar me and I wouldn't go back in there...I don't care..someone strike a match...who cares

Just move on..start a thread "Talk crap about Zach" I don't care I'm here for pool and that's it. I think it's obvious if I'm dedicating 2 nights to TAP league, 2 nights to running tournaments, plus two more nights a week on the weekends of my big events..

My first tournament at JR's only had 12, but everyone has to start somewhere. I didn't change the dates for the first one because I had already printed 250 fliers..The numbers will go up and IT's only A one day event if we have more than 32 (players maybe even a little more...) I couldn't change the fact that I knew nothing about Docs tournament..He called me after I posted it on here..

I have never understood why Zachs keeps claiming these tournamnets are "His", I mean he does not supply the pool rooms or tables or even added money, I have been running the weekly 8 and 9 tournys at JRsf or over 10 years and I would not consider them "MY" tournys. They are always the establishments tournaments.
As far as the bracket Zach borrowed, when I had borrowed something I was taught to return them, but each to his own, I'll make the drive to Lake Dallas pick it up.
It seems hepling out was just to get my hand bit.
Later and thanks again for your input on the League fees

And by me saying my tournaments I mean as a tournament director they were mine..It's for the players...Hell I don't even get paid for the events I run at any of the places I run tournaments...Is that not good enough? They always ask me what I want for running a tournament and I tell them nothing...Did Andrew ever offer anything /...Hell no end of discussion

Exactlly, that is why I was confused when you decided to stack the new Flying pig tourny on top of the JR Pockets monthly tournament I have kept it the same third Saturday of each month, also had kept it the same format you had started, because I thought you and Andrew would have kissed and made up by now, I never thought you would go bridge burning.
The format and tounament at JRs will stay the same through the end of the year as stated on the flyers. At the end of the year I along with JRs and the players input will establish any new format changes.

You ran the tournament, set the handicaps ran and Bid in the Callcuta's, and took 10% off the top what do you mean you do not get paid for the tourny

You changed a lot of stuff...yeah you kept the ranking system I came up with, but you changed a lot of other stuff...including the added money..That place is all about making money they don't give two cents about the players...That's why it's dead in there 5 out of the 7 days a week.

I did take 10% but at JR's the $60 for the $600 calcutta's covered my entry fee...JR's gave me nothing..ever...basically the money I made was always put back in and then some..

Thanks for bumping my tournament with all of this meaningless crap...Geez just drop it so the mods don't get pissed..
