9 Ball Continuous

Has anyone thought of implementing continuous 9 Ball in a race before?
Its would sorta be like 14.1, except after pocketing the 9, the player starts the next rack breaking from where the cue was left off.
I think it would add a greater challenge to the game.
It would eliminate finding the perfect break spot.
It would make the better player have better cue ball control.
The player must still hit the 1 on the break, so if the cue lands behind the rack, they have to find a way to hit the 1, or else its a foul.

What do you think?

9-ball isn't broken. It doesn't need fixing. With that said. 9.1 continuous rotation could be interesting except like 14.1, I would prefer to have players use the 9 ball as the break ball and pocket that while smashing up the other rack. It would actually work better for 10.1 continuous because that would have a better rack to do this.

Where would the 9 (or 10) ball go for the next rack after it is pocketed as the break ball? would it get spotted for the next rack? thats why i suggested breaking from where the cue ball was last left.

Yes, spot it after you make it on the break shot.

Interesting...well what if the breaker pockets the 10, scatters the rack, (10 is spotted), then runs out without disturbing the 10, time to rack again what happens?:
? the rack go on the opposite side of table
? balls are racked behind 10 ball (head ball) and an attempted to be pocketed

I have played something similar, as follows:

If you leave the cue ball in the kitchen after pocketing the nine (in order or by combo or carom), you retain the break and must break from where the cue ball ends up. You get ball in hand in the kitchen for the next break when you three foul your opponent. If you make the nine and fail to leave the cue ball in the kitchen, your opponent breaks the next rack with ball in hand. If you make the nine in sequence and scratch, opponent breaks the next rack with ball in hand in the kitchen.

And yes, nine ball and ten ball are broken and what's broken more than anything else is the break. Allowing players to break from the exact same spot time after time removes one skill element and makes the game more repetitious.

cool, do you think it would be more challenging using the break from wherever the cueball remained, or from the kitchen.
I like the 3 foul rule.

Much tougher when you had to play it as it lies after the final shot of the previous rack.

the perfect 9 ball hard breakshot is a thing of beauty and I would never want to see it eliminated

9 ball is fine

yes, it is if the breaker chooses to break hard, if the breaker chooses to soft break from the same spot because it guarantees a ball, then the excitement of the break is gone. If the player can pocket the ball and get the cue ball back to the right spot, then thats skill. Just a thought.
