So I notice alot of folks on here seem to be really good at 9 ball or at least talk extremely well (lol). I'm just curious speed wise, (and this is a poll so please be honest) what the median skill level as far a APA 9 Ball handicaps are... and if you were a "8" in 9ball like 5 years ago (last you played APA 9 ball) that don't really count ;-)

I have been a very strong 5 for a while now and recently was forced to go up to a 6. I havent had any problems winning at that level either so I'd say Im a median 6 in 9ball.

Opps I forgot to add the option "I don't play no stinking picnic league APA bullspit!!"

should have been an option.

Stopped playing 9ball a few sessions back as a 6. Play mostly 8 now, 6 there as well.

Who are the 8+'s ?

Please raise your hand!
We don't have an APA nineball ranking. I did play "Masters" though. Eight ball only went up to a seven. 12-0, baby as a seven. Even my own teammates were pulling for me to get a loss. That was my one and only season of league. I just can't make myself assign one day a week and stay devoted.

That one would have gotten my vote:)

i don't play in no stinking picnic league! lol , but I do play signifigantly better than any of the 9s that play out of my room!( which is alot of 9s since a whole region plays in our 39 table poolroom)

22 votes in the poll but only 6 people outted themselves by posting remarks!

I KNEW it! No one wants to admit their speed. If they're slow they are embarrassed and if they're speedy they AIN'T gonna announce it because they will have to give more weight!!!

Me? I'll just lie and say I voted 6.

i dont know what it means, so I cant say for sure. right now if I make 4 balls in a row i'm ok.:(

Wow, so many 8+ players on here. Not many learned anything from the OMGWTF vs Cubc match I see. Unless an 8+ is a "C" player in APA. Johnnyt

9's ?!? A lot of them???? I've been playing in the APA for over 5 years and have never met a 9, or even seen a 9 on any scoresheets, I think I've only seen 1 or 2, 8's. Yet you have a lot of 9's that play out of your room and you are "significantly" better than them (which would essentially be pro speed) not calling you out, just have some trouble with the idea that you have a bunch of 9's in your area and there is not ONE SINGLE 9 (in apa 9ball) in all of west central florida and to my knowledge hasnt been one in 5+ years.

I think there are more 9's out there than you realize. The problem is that because of the 23 rule, their teams are not always great, and are hard to find in regional or national play.

There are at least 3 9's within 30 miles of this crappy little southeast kansas town, and probably twice as many 8's.

I'm just a 5, and it is possible that there are more of them than I know about. Players of that skill level don't seem to try to make their speed known to players of my skill level.

Why'd you stop at 8+? An 8 is a whole lot worse than a 9+.

Fred <~~~ a whole lot worse than a 9+

Do you have a breakdown on ratings for APA. I am thinking 8 but don't know. If 8 is pro speed, then I'm not an 8. Some times I would be, but not on regular bases. I have won against good players and went to the hill with some.

I
edit: I see they are going with pro is a 9+

So I would say and 8 for me.

If you're an 8 in the APA, and not a 9, then that's about a B player on most understood scales in the US. Even a "bad 9" in the APA could be a B+ player.

Cause I've only seen a couple 8's and never seen a 9 (in 9ball) I didnt think there were many 9's anywhere. Im still having trouble swallowing that. Are all these 9's bar box 9's or are there indeed that many APA 9ball skill level 9's that play on 9 footers?
