One day I was working with my practice partner on a nine foot Diamond. I don't know what the problem was, my eyeball calibration off, a slight shift in the space/time continuum, I couldn't pocket balls straight in. By some fluke I found myself shooting at the money ball. A slight angle to the corner pocket or straight into the rail for a four railer into the same pocket on the table. Didn't have to but I called it around the table and the pocket. Naturally it split the pocket like the object ball had eyes. Does anyone have to ask me which shot I would have played for a hundred?

Playing 9. You are on the 7. WWYD?
No debate there, just stun with right english going two rails and have a feeling of avoiding not to scratch on the side or maybe control the speed so that it doesn't reach the side pocket. Two rails going deep so that you don't touch the 9ball either after getting out of the second rail, i.e. the line of the cueball should be lower than the 9ball, then you'd have both the 8ball and 9ball on the same corner pocket.

I can't even see any other variable option, but if you want to make a show I guess you could draw into the head rail and out to make a nicer look, but this shot isn't natural nor beneficial and could go wrong.

Another option is the bank and straight draw, which is as good if it's your table. i.e. you must know the table and how it banks, but if I'm playing in tournament (Not my table) I wont bank it, because each table banks differently and I wouldn't risk it.

Just for kicks I modeled the most popular couple of options with VP4, which usually has pretty accurate physics and "tournament table" conditions.

The 2-railer is surprisingly sensitive to speed and spin, needs to be played close to the corner pocket and risks the side pocket scratch.

The 1-railer is less sensitive and plays farther from both pockets, but of course has to be hit pretty hard and low.

Pick your poison.

I also modeled my inside spin shot - we don't need to talk about that.
