The extra ball does indeed create more traffic than you'd believe until you experience it. The way we play is call ball and pocket, only one ball called per shot, no 10 on the break wins, and if any ball is illegally pocketed the incoming player has the option to make you shoot again. Basically it's a no slop rotation game. The rules are completely different than 9-ball. The break is also much different because of the rack shape, so until it is figured out it'll be tougher than 9-ball.
I love the game. There's no slop & no snapping wins on the break. And if you slop something in and get a lucky safe, your opponent can make you shoot again. It favors skill more than 9-ball, IMO. Don't get me wrong, every game requires skill to play well. But nine ball allows for some sloppy, lucky stuff that ten ball absolutely prohibits. It's a good game. Still rotation but completely different than nine ball.
