Wanted to show you a Memorial case I made for one of my customers. His design idea. My follow through. The top pocket design was taken from a photo of a tatoo on his arm.

Thanks,
Jim

Beautiful work Jim.. Nice tribute, you're one of the tops, that's for sure.

your apprentice...

First, that is certainly a beautiful case and yes, indeed, touching. Great job!

While I was waiting for my match to begin at SBE I sat next to a young man who took keen interest in the case I was using - it is an antelope hyde case (see picture below - 3rd from left). The lad said he was just getting into case building and was apprenticing at your shop. He certainly seemed very enthusiastic over working with you. Hope he is working out for you. Kindly pass on my regards. And again, what a nice memorial case you made for your customer. He'll surely be happy with that one.

Best,
Brian KC

That is a disturbing case. A lot of emotion wrapped up there. Good work Jim. I am sure that this case holds a lot of meaning for you as well being a New Yorker.

I was on a plane and we were forced to land in Kansas City that week. Seeing this case I just had a flashback of watching this play out on the tv monitors at the airport and later at the motel.

I hope we never have to go through that again.

This thread has raised a curiosity in me. How many people did not know what the "343" stands for on the case?

I only ask because it is a number that is ingrained in my memory even though I am not a fireman nor am I from NYC. I guess I mistakenly assumed a lot about what happened that day has become inherent to those of us that are old enough to remember that terribly sad day. :(

Beautiful case Mr. Murnak.
