Swift.

American made (no need to start another China vs US thread, he asked for opinions and made in the USA means something to me), less expensive, solid quality. All reasons I would buy one over the new and maybe improved but definetly more expensive Instroke style. Also according to one of Barton's posts on IP he has a one year backlog of orders so who knows how long it could take to get a case.

I have never ordered a case from Swift and havent seen any info on his lead time any where so I dont know his lead time. Could be better could be worse. I do know he offers some pretty cool custom options and leather colors.

I also am a fan of Jim Murnak's cases. You get a lot of value for the money in his entry level cases as well as having the ability to go hog wild with the design elements if you so choose.

Of course there is always Mr. Jack Justis and his impeccable work which last I heard is available pretty quick for a custom case.

I think you are rolling a winner in any case.

The plus for SWIFT is that he will customize your case for you.

SWIFT owner for 30 years....SPF=randyg

American made products for sure (dead give away) i like the new lite whitten cases tops for great protection with lighter tubes weighing in at 3ilbs & 9 ozs-2x4 cases! :)

I was unaware John's were made overseas.

John works for Sterling Gaming. He is responsible for quality control for their overseas manufacturing. He has been living in China for a couple of years. While there, he has started making custom cases on his own. They are made in China because that is where he is.
I have used an Instroke for years, and am now waiting for my custom case from John. I've seen his work, and can only say they are extremely well made, and gorgeous cases as well. I gave him some basic guidelines, and left the specific design up to him. I can't wait to see what he comes up with for me.

Just do a search for John Barton or GTF cases and you will find all kinds of info. Much of it provided by Barton himself.

Case choice

SWIFT; wouldn't own another. Dennis works with you for the design work on the case, stands behind his work and just makes a fine quality case.
I've owned/own a 3x6 and 2x4. just my opinion

????????????

I'm a Dennis Swift owner. I have a custom 2x3 with a heavy green felt wool liner. It has 2 pockets on the outside an is not heavy. Dennis makes a top notch quality old school leather case at a very reasonable price. There is nothing in my case from China an I'm for sure not going to put my stuff in a chinese case!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As everyone knows, I am the worst photographer on AZB but here goes. Pics of case and "stuff". Less than $300 to your door for this case from Dennis. You choose!!

I have 2 Swift cases, and they are a nice durable case...I believe both men design, and build a nice product, but it appears the Swift has more bang for the buck...

no brainer, none of the above.

Imho, u OWE IT TO YOURSELF to thoroughly investigate James murnak's cases. They are made incredibly well, can be customized, and his customer service is at the highest level.

If his cases are out of your budget, I'd choose an Americanade swift case, but would feel like I settled.

Check out murnak's website. Some awfully beautiful and creative stuff. He even made a case where the pockets zippers are flush and the pockets themselves are internal. No protruding pouches!!!!

Of the two being compared, I would also go with the Swift case. I've had a 2x4 Swift since 1991 that has served me quite well. However, I recently treated myself to a new Murnak 3x6 that I think is just awesome. As mentioned by previous poster, you may want to check out Mr. Murnak as well.

Dennis Swift has been doing what he does for about 15+ years, make just a few variations, and I think he does a nice case for the money. [IMAGE]http://www.geocities.com/cocobolocowboy/cheers.gif[/IMG]

Swifts seem to either be loved or change hands, but if you have a problem, Dennis is in the USA, and does his own customer service. But i have personally heard of few problem with a Swift.

Think after sale service is important. Think you can noty go wrong with a Swift IMHO.
