I'm a Dennis Swift owner. I have a custom 2x3 with a heavy green felt wool liner. It has 2 pockets on the outside an is not heavy. Dennis makes a top notch quality old school leather case at a very reasonable price. There is nothing in my case from China an I'm for sure not going to put my stuff in a chinese case!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As everyone knows, I am the worst photographer on AZB but here goes. Pics of case and "stuff". Less than $300 to your door for this case from Dennis. You choose!!

Pinocchio sold me.

"$300 to your door for this case from Dennis."

Nice looking case. I love my Jack Justis, but have always thought a Swift or a Justis are the top 2.

For good looks, durability, and protection, you absolutely can't go wrong with a custom John Barton case.

also great if you'd like to help out the Chinese economy

The OP didn't ask anything about where the case was made... his question was "John Barton Or Dennis Swift?????????".

FWIW, I believe in buying "American Made" whenever possible. The problem is finding what you like that's USA built. Sadly, we don't make very much here anymore. And I'm not going to do without something just because I can't find it American made. The only American capable of producing the quality tooling in cases that John Barton builds is Chas Clements, and he isn't building them right now.

Justis is like the Roll Royce, Swift is like the Chevrolet if you get my drift...;)
Tell me you're kidding......

Thinks Porper is the Chevrolet....

Dennis Swift builds a solid case. They are little too bulky for me personally but the leather work is solid and strong. The tooling is very traditiional and has an old world feel to it.

If Dennis Swift were to have been born a Chinese man with the same soul then he would be crafting beautiful and solid works of art here in China as well.

I would be happy and honored to build you a case but currently I am about eight months behind schedule so you may have to wait quite a while if you were to choose one from me. I am trying to catch up but the volume of custom requests is keeping me really busy discussing the various projects.

For simpler pattern cases we can get those done in a shorter time. I would suggest it.

These threads always turn into a China vs. USA thing and obviously I wish they wouldn't. I have always said that quality is what matters no matter where something is made. I believe that our quality is second to none so you can be sure that if quality and something that matches your desire is what you want then we will be happy to provide that.

We live on a ball and we are all people trying to live good lives. I think that we would do well to try and remember that. All of us have a common history and common ancestery.

Thank you for considering our cases. Between the other brands mentioned they are all good choices. I would add Garth Bair of ON Q Cases and Brian Bonner of Nittany Leather to the list as well. Links to both of these makers can be found on our main page www.jbcases.com at the bottom.

All the best,

John Barton

Bravo, and help out our "struggling"economy please sending money out of the "states" doesnt help us or you at all............

You can get a completely custom configured john barton basic 2x4 for $250. It will be plain of course but you're definitely going to get top-notch protection for your cues. I go where the quality is. If that's China, then they earned my money. That's why I own a Honda :)

John works for Sterling Gaming. He is responsible for quality control for their overseas manufacturing. He has been living in China for a couple of years. While there, he has started making custom cases on his own. They are made in China because that is where he is.
I have used an Instroke for years, and am now waiting for my custom case from John. I've seen his work, and can only say they are extremely well made, and gorgeous cases as well. I gave him some basic guidelines, and left the specific design up to him. I can't wait to see what he comes up with for me.
Steve

Half right in my opinion. Even if he was living state-side, his cases would be made at least in Asia, probably in China. I was under the impression that his cases are not personally made by him, but by a hireling.

I vote for Swift and made in the USA.

Another proud American helping"OUR ECONOMY" ............
You should be proud of yourself sir.............

Both cases are great!

But for me, what matters is WHAT I WANT. I'd go for the case maker who will "fully customize" it according to my own design and the level of protection that I'm after. I don't want a case based on an already existing pattern then "customize" it by adding some other items in the menu... for me, that's called "production-modification" or "production-customization". I want it to be UNIQUE, I want it to be an ORIGINAL design, & I want the highest level of protection my cues can get based on my budget & design. For protection, I'd vote +1 on JB

Forget whose economy benefits from whom. Let's put an end to racism as we only live in one world. In the end, your purchase will help feed someone else's family whether it be someone from the US, China, Africa, Iraq, Thailand, etc. Hence, try not to complicate your selection with these... what matters is WHAT YOU WANT ;)

Again, it's just my opinion :)

Sorry, OT: They way I understand it, US's economic depression is resulted by the debts the Country has incurred: from the funding of wars to the local purchasing habits as people tend to use credit & loans a lot which result to more debts & less monetary circulation... ie more receipts/debts, less savings both in micro & macro economics... Is this right?

I think Americans are starting to think about buying American Products again, but it is too late folks,
woohoo.gif
As for YEARS Wal-Mart boasted it sold American Made Products, or as they like the say products Made in the U.S.A. Not the case any longer.

John Barton is a making Cases like no other Cases I have ever seen before, and most I would give a

for appearance, as I have NEVER seen one in person.

I know Shorty down in Florida has one from Barton and has NOTHING but GREAT things to say about his John Barton Case.

Shorty is Wheel Chair bound, and John made him the case of his dreams, and it work well to do what a case for a wheel chair played need a case to do.
