A big Rep for KJ.

Again, I've been out of stock(saws) for some time now.

I can still do mandrels but have lost my source for saws.

I can still do mandrels but have lost my source for saws. Replacement saws are available on eBay. Search = 'carbide slitting saw'.

Do you do some with a larger(1/2") od on the blade side for the larger blades or should i make something to adapt?

You may have to look for another mandrel for those.

The mandrels that I use have a 3/8" arbor (the part the saw centers on).
I turn that down to 8mm (.315"). I also turn the head of the mandrel from 3/4" down to .590" to expose more of the saw and allow you to cut through thicker mtrl. It will cut the butt size mtrl if you first turn that mtrl down to 1.320" before parting off your rings. Then the saw gets through. This is assuming your mtrl has a 3/4" ID.

There are many carbide saws on eBay. Some are identical to the ones I was selling and should make for excellent replacements. Some are thicker, some are thinner. I'm currently running one that is .020" thick. Thinner cut, less waste.
The mandrels I use are extremely 'hard' and require carbide tooling to machine them.

Thanks

KJ,
Thanks again for your advice, and help. I've only got to use it once. Had family visiting. Hope to work with it more soon.

Dont sell your skills short ...

Blue Hog Rider ... don't think that your skill in setting up and using that tool did nothing to contribute to a successful operation.
Good tools are a wonderful thing in the hands of a skilled craftsman ...

Nice job on a very thin ring! ... not a rookie task
