Swish

100% TRUE STORY

Put a pot of chili on just a few minutes ago. Kidney bean fell in the sink while straining the juice. Looked across the kitchen - the lid on the garbage can was half open. SWISHHHHHHH!!!!!!! I'M ON! WOOOHOOOO!!! Can't wait to get to the poolroom now.

Played for the first time since early August, (besides giving my gf lessons). Ran a 45 and 31. Most of the session was crappy, but meh.

That's the closest to a story I got right now.

You're "on", making "swish" noises?? I'll bet, after having a pot of chili with kidney beans. Wouldn't want to play anywhere near your table, unless I have my gas-mask. :p

Have a Great Day

Wish that I could get some practice in today but I am finally breaking down my table to put new 860 on, that I got a month ago. I need to make some minor repairs to the table also. It should take a few days.
I hope that everyone who is playing today & this evening has a great time. Make sure you post and let us know how it turned out.

I Played very poorly today, But my best friend and Brother Charlie met up with me for a practice game since we hadnt had one in a very long time. After our game was over he pointed out something very significant..and its time to start puting it into play !!!!

Good idea.
I haven't put anything up for some time, but here is a 60 for your enjoyment/amusment I did just a couple hours ago. Feel free to critique.
Vimeo seems to be taking a lot of time. I'll put it up in a few hours.
Good shooting, run hundreds.

Well, I finally found someone to play 14.1 with. We played mostly 9 ball and 8 ball today and I finally talked him into some straight pool, racing to 50. I beat him 50 to 9 and my first run I got a 32. Then I got one in the 20's (he let me keep running until I missed after the game was over). I was playing on my friend's diamond table. It felt good to actually play a game of this. I look forward to more actual games and not just me shooting alone in my basement...

Not playing this weekend - I'm home taking care of my wife. But I played yesterday and ran 98 (damnit).

One thing I will pass along, FWIW, is that I am learning more and more how important it is to give your body the time necessary to go through its setup sequence and do all the stuff it needs to do to setup properly. This, I believe relates to the issue of rhythm. Too often we may play too fast and not give ourselves enough time to do all the body needs to do to set up. BUT the flip side is that if you're under pressure and start slowing down, you can give yourself *too much time* and that will throw things out of sync as badly as shooting too quick.

Like I said, FWIW.

Blah!!!

Just got home. Played 4 games to 100. Won all 4 which is the only good news. Had a few runs in the 30's, but nothing spectacular. Was playing on a Diamond so I wasn't expecting much. I HATE playing straight pool on a Diamond.

Sean!

I swished the kidney bean from across the kitchen! And my garbage can is triple-shimmed! How strong is that?? And no gas mask needed. The chili was on simmer while I was at the room. Ready to chow down now :)

Played all day at an event that Dennis Walsh coordinated. We had a pretty good turnout, great players, great guys. Special thanks to Dennis for putting this together, and to Ed Latimer for the coaching and the knowledge transfer.

I have much to work on (no news there).

Learned a TON today about shot selection, cuts, stuns, spins, banks, specialty shots, break shots, blind shots, and pattern work.

Great time!!!

I just watched your video and really enjoyed watching it. You shoot at a good pace, so I never got bored watching. The first rack was the worst of all the racks b/c you let the cue ball run so much but we all do that. You got back on track and set yourself up with a nice break shot. All the other racks were good, once in awhile getting off line but working the rack out very nice with all good set ups to get on the break ball.
As I was watching the video, I was wondering how you were going to end the run. As soon as I seen you shoot the first two balls of the last rack. I said to myself. I bet he goes into the back of that stack and gets stuck. Yep, That is a dangerous shot and it puts ends to many runs.
You did really well. Thanks for posting.

yup, that's what I did, and I knew it was wrong before I hit it.
on the upside, my stroke is better than ever and it might not be long before I get where I want to be.
thx for the review 14 man

Care to share it with us?

Of course i will share...just let me take a few outings to incorporate it and see if that peice fits into the puzzle we all know as 14.1 !!!

Steve i just watched your 60, you played some nice patterns. But in the end you went into that cluster blindly without an insurance. the shot before if you would of rolled forawd anther inch or so you could of played the ball on the rail and went into the cluster and had the ball that you dd shoot as insurance..Just my thoughts !

Ron!

What? You "swished" a kidney bean? Boy, that passed through your system really quick. Sounds like you couldn't make it from across the kitchen... that is, unless, the reason why you keep mentioning that triple-shimmed garbage can was because that was the closest "receptacle" in the distance it takes to get from across the kitchen...

Ok, ok, no more potty jokes. :p

Seriously, hope you shot well tonight. And I hope the chili tasted good!

Yeah, we had a good time. Eight players. Mixing and matching a bit. Ed Latimer, one of the better players spent all of his time instructing three different guys. The rest of us mostly switched off and played games to 100. I got Rick Michalek, another good player, to play alternating shots with me, which was great practice. He plays nice patterns and is good at not bumping into balls unless he has to. Also good at creating break shots.

I liked the practice I got with Rick and won all my matches playing fair, some 20 somethings, nothing spectacular but ok.

11:00 -6:00 for $10. Hard to beat the price.

Steven: Nice meeting you at the World's this year.

Nice run. In the first rack, I thought that ball on the rail stayed there a little long but found out it was a very useful part of the triangle at the end of the rack.

Second rack you got through it good. Again I thought that ball on the rail was a problem and again you used it for a nice key ball to the key ball. I am beginning to notice a pattern here.:)

In the third rack, you did a lot of working around the balls rather than bumping them. Finding the pockets they went in and opening up other balls that way rather than hitting them. At the end you created a small problem when you bumped the two, but were able to fix it next shot. I thought you were maybe gonna shoot the two rather than the ball above it so as to not bump anything, but it was a little bit more of a cut.

The next rack you avoided bumping into things a lot and started taking apart that little cluster on the left side at the end but on the final shot, a ball had to be bumped and it moved over to the business side of the end pattern. You had to do some nice maneuvering at the end but when it was over, it looked like a line drive in the box score.

Too bad about the way it ended. You get stuck on the back of the rack and all you have is that thin cut down the rail. You make it and scratch. No justice.

Nice patterns.
