a couple of videos from Kremlin Cup 2011

Did Stalev play in this tournament? I don't think so, but I have seen the level wasn't super-high. Many good players and many not so good.
Bye

I enjoyed the Tot/Stepanov match.
Tot has a nice stroke....and when a man doesn't understand the language,
it makes me beam to hear " C'mon baby!"
His expression reminds me of Mike Lebron...I'd hate to play poker with him.

I really don't like alternate break though....
..high run for the tournament....one lousy rack.

thanx Vah...give us some more

and when a man doesn't understand the language
not sure who you mean

I miss some racks stringed together too sometimes, but as usual the coin has two sides. During this tournament I discussed that with one of Russian top pros, and He said he prefers alternate, it is the way almost every event is played in Europe now. Slight analogy to tennis where players exchage the serves.
You could also read what Darren thinks (big interview at pro9.co.uk), he mentions winners break at 8-Ball Worlds and some other tournament as ridiculous, or sort of. Okay, I agree. That local pro I was talking to lost the lag vs Raj and had to witness him running 8 and out. That's spectacular, but how fair is that, no opportunity to respond?
I would think 10-Ball is okay for winner breaks, but not 9-Ball.

Did Stalev play in this tournament?
He did (because of high prize money) but of course he realized he had little chance in pool, he played in pyramid event. And though he practiced for a week or two prior to the event he got eliminated pretty soon. I've heard about a couple of pros made proposition bets with someone that they will finish at higher place than Stalev, for some crazy amount like 6 grand  (first place winnings brought slightly more). Well, it was a sure bet I would say, sorry Evgeny.

Nevertheless, he is a legendary player for pyramid, no doubt. Maybe I will start a special thread for these videos, but so far... Enjoy you who are interested in Kremlin Cup videos thread :D

I don't speak Russian, but I'm not complaining....
...I saw some english on the cue-ball.:)

I think alternating breaks tournaments should just have shorter matches.
It's an artificial way of getting 'cliff-hangers'.

I know there can be one-sided matches at 'winner breaks' ...but you
can also get the thrill of running 4 racks and out when your opponent
is sitting on the hill.
...and when you get a long way behind in alternating breaks, the only
way you can win is if your opponent messes up...that's negative.
At winner breaks, it's never over till the last ball drops.

Those trickshots are insane. The difficulty level must be extremely high with the tight pockets.
