Happy New Year Everyone! Try these tips to improve your game! Number one thing to do is Focus, Focus and Focus some more on shots, walk around the table and check the shot out from all angles. Take a little more time with every shot. And treat easy shots the same way you do hard shots. Never take a shot for granted under any conditions! Try to think or plan 3 shots ahead with position! Drink plenty of juice and water during a match and before a match! Let nothing distract your game or shots! Last but not least, Think that I can and have done this before, and I am the same person as before!!! Turn your cell phone Off! And forget it during a match!
I hope this helps!
Many Regards,

Good God man. Do you realize what you are asking at the end of your post. TURN YOUR PHONE OFF!!?? Holy shitzle. I have seen folks texting at breakfast, lunch, dinner, while driving, and so on. They would have a hissy fit, start foaming at the mouth, and you would probably have to call EMT as they are addicted to these devices. There is no way they could turn them off for one second, much less the time it takes to play an ENTIRE game of nine ball. You no not what you ask!!:):)

Tips

Those are good suggestions, Lock n Load. At 29, after graduating from college and attending graduate school, I went to a technical school to crosstrain into computers. And I found that in working with computers, analyzing and developing software systems on mainframe computers, that it helped my Pool game. Primarily, this came about because you also have to focus and concentrate a lot when developing software, so I became adept at being able to focus when I needed to.

Plus, in computers, you work with logic completely, and this overflowed into my Pool game also. Some of my best years of playing, I was working about 55 hours a week in computers.

Many times when I am playing, I am not even aware of what is going on around because I am so focused on the game.

I thank you for your response.Snapshot, I did not know you were into computers.

It makes a lot of sense to focus on what you are doing. I deal with computers too! On a different level though. Thanks again.

Lock N Load...Here are my top 3 tips to improve. Along with what you're saying, 1) stop your cue (at the CB) before you shoot...this lets your subconscious decide if you really are "ready" or not!...2) slow down your final backswing (work on a smooth transition from the end of the backswing to the accelerated forward stroke, no matter what speed shot you're playing)...and 3) stay down on the shot, after you strike the CB. Happy New Year!

Great summary of shot routine, but what about eye movement from CB to OB?

If I feel my eyes lock onto OB, the shot is nearly always great.

This eye movement is not yet completely hardwired so occasionally it enters my conscious mind. This is not good.

Comments? Suggestions?

What do you usually eat when you are playing in the tournament? This happen to me a lot of times.I will be playing good at the beginning of the tournament then i will take my meal, then when i start playing again i feel like i never hold a cue in my life.what is your suggestion on this one?

Hey lock and load i remember you posting something like this before. I think i remember you telling me to try and run 4 balls. Well just recently ive tried throwing 3 random balls with ball in hand. I think it actually its helping me some. I recently was playing a better player in one of me league games. I had 3 balls plus 8. He had 1 plus the 8. I got lucky and got ball in had. I screwed up and missed an easy shot with ball in hand at that. Luckily with my miss i didnt give him a good shot. I thought to myself ok i cant miss again, but i cant panic here either. Luckily i was able to run out the 4 balls. I also want to point out, at least for me if i take too much time on a shot i have a tendency to miss.

i have the same issue. what works for me is to eat only very small amounts at a time. if i have to eat a sandwich or something big like that, then i drink a coffee to counter the effects of all my blood flow going to my digestive system.

chilli extra spicey. will make your opponent run
honestly i just eat normal.

For the slow backswing; that improved my game greatly. easier to draw etc. plus if you just stop a moment at the end of the backswing you remind yourself to focus your eyes on the OB.

low glycemic index

The same protein drinks eg. brewers yeast, whey powder... with juice or milk that I take before lifting, a combat pistol match...

No "energy" drinks full of caffeine, ephedra... & all that "speed" which will make you jittery & are bad anytime. Coffee included.

Alcohol is always poison.

Sex on the pool table is OK if you do not move any of the balls.

Pool Tips:

I would suggest that every year we would write down our three pre-shot routines. Choreograph them out to make sure they are proper and still flow together. Along with that make sure we are still using our Switches.

, And I eat some M+M peanuts candy. Nothing heavy at all. When it is not your shot stay clear of the table. Out of the way completely so your opponent won't have anything to say. Never rush a shot! I also chew two sticks of double mint gum. Sometimes three sticks.
