Happy New Everyone!
Ditto!

Try these tips to improve your game! Number one thing to do is Focus, Focus and Focus some more on shots, walk around the table and check the shot out from all angles. Take a little more time with every shot. And treat easy shots the same way you do hard shots. Never take a shot for granted under any conditions! Try to think or plan 3 shots ahead with position! Drink plenty of juice and water during a match and before a match! Let nothing distract your game or shots! Last but not least, Think that I can and have done this before, and I am the same person as before!!! Turn your cell phone Off! And forget it during a match!
I hope this helps!
That's a great New Year resolution list!

berlowmj2...A consistent eye pattern is the second most important thing we teach. Focus on CB...focus on OB...eyes on CB to warmup...eyes on OB to shoot (exceptions are break, jump, kick or masse'...where eyes are on CB at contact). You're correct about not wanting any conscious thought to creep into your process. However that demands a VERY conscious process of disciplined practice to make it into something unconscious. You simply cannot think and shoot. Think standing up...no conscious thought once your bridge hand hits the cloth...just let your body do what the brain has trained it to do. :D

Great summary of shot routine, but what about eye movement from CB to OB?

If I feel my eyes lock onto OB, the shot is nearly always great.

This eye movement is not yet completely hardwired so occasionally it enters my conscious mind. This is not good.

Comments? Suggestions?

reassurance appreciated

It is reassuring to know that I am consistent with the routine you outline.

I am progressing but how many 1,000s of balls must I shoot before I am TOTALLY hard wired?

Everyone is different, but many players will create the "hard-wired" effect with a few minutes of disciplined practice every day, for a few weeks. Some will take longer...some less...be patient and continue what you're doing. It will come!

Aim while standing up
Move down on shot and get chin over stick and face square to cue
keep a relaxed grip
Focus
Learn to shoot with opposite arm

From what I have witness at the pool slash bars, try to stay sober. I have seen more than a few C players after a few beers think that they can beat King Kong. They should try Hanks drink.

Alcohol has definite effects on both actual and perceived levels of play ... and on our perception of attractiveness of the opposite sex. For more info, see:

In a funk right now! I'll take any advice. Never have I shot this bad for over a 2 week period. I hit a mind block it seems like I have forgot what I am doing at the table.

Walk in to your shot in line with your shot. If you adjust when down then get back up and walk in again. I immediately improved my game over night by being disciplined about this.
When I see players adjust the angle of the shot when they are down on the shot it gives me hope that they are going to miss, as invariably they do.

i have the same issue. what works for me is to eat only very small amounts at a time. if i have to eat a sandwich or something big like that, then i drink a coffee to counter the effects of all my blood flow going to my digestive system.

chilli extra spicey. will make your opponent run
honestly i just eat normal.

For the slow backswing; that improved my game greatly. easier to draw etc. plus if you just stop a moment at the end of the backswing you remind yourself to focus your eyes on the OB.

The same protein drinks eg. brewers yeast, whey powder... with juice or milk that I take before lifting, a combat pistol match...

No "energy" drinks full of caffeine, ephedra... & all that "speed" which will make you jittery & are bad anytime. Coffee included.

Alcohol is always poison.

Sex on the pool table is OK if you do not move any of the balls.

Thanks guys for the input.I really have troubles with this issue.I tried energy drinks for match but made it worst. Now,i drink water only as much as i can.I'll try to eat a small amount of food next time see if this will works for me.

Please do not forget orange juice and grape juice!
