2] I don't think the IPT was a great pyramid scheme. Although, now that I look back, there was an awfully BIG emphasis on qualifiers and KT kept telling players about referrals. Add that to the fact that KT was trying to model Poker in a way and might have thought that the perception of huge payouts in tournaments would bring out the masses to compete in qualifiers. Well, pool is not poker. Pool takes years to learn and few master it. Poker is a joke, which is why complete no-names win big tournaments. Sigel, Deno and others who advised KT surely would have told him that a pool base large enough to participate in qualifiers to generate revenue for the IPT in that way just doesn't exist. Therefore, this wasn't the intent. Couldn't have been.

You are wrong about this, Deno told several people that he EXPECTED 64 players to turn up for the qualifiers. This along with the promo video and several other signs clearly shows the IPTs card and how they planned to fund the tour. It didn't happen and this is why we are where we are today.

Like someone said earlier, Deno may be hurt the worst. I went down a road like this years ago with a similar personality, they are like a drug, they make you enjoy your time with them so much, but what's worse, you believe em. Makes me appreciate how great a salesman Sigel was, and I by no means am I being derrogatory. Look at RA and his Velvet Foghorn tactics, masters, praise the lord and pass the tray.;) :D :D :D
Deno is a smart man and I'm sure he was quite aware of KT's past. The point is, lots of honest people do business with character's like KT all the time - they offer you something that makes sense TO YOU and if you think the shady part of their background will not affect the deal, then you do it. KT is about making money, and if he can do it honestly I am sure he will - makes much more sense than drawing more attention to yourself doing questionable business. That might very well have been his goal here - using the skills he acquired through his questionable past to make money and have fun honestly. We don't know yet.

And who are we kidding here? There are those on the board who do business with shady sellers all the time, on a much smaller scale. So don't jump on Deno - he took a chance and I wouldn't hold that against him.

I look at it this way. You are either honest in your dealings or you're not. Your reputation is the most important thing you have. Deno proved himself to be a liar. And that one is on him.

I've produced or directed over 100 major pool tournaments in the last twenty years. I challenge you to find one player who says I owe them money.

Without knowing the man (Deno) I cannot comment on his personal character, tho I know when you get caught up with a profession velvet Foghorn who has the manipulative skills/dialoge and connections, even the best of us can sometimes make bad decisions. I have trusted wrong people before, twice, and if you count my X make it 3 (she cost me the most). By him not speaking up either means KT has a 'hold' or there really is something of value that he's been sold on again. Deno is afloat just don't know if anyone sees him waving his hands from that far away.
