A lesson with JBKY.. John Brumback, World Champion.

You are obviously educated, so I'll recommend buying his DVD. It's a small investment for some quality knowledge.

If your game doesn't move up in speed, then resell it here on AZB.

Because of this thread, I am going to purchase a copy of John's DVD.

Thaiger, you're obviously not a cynic, so if you are doubting what these people are saying, then why not just try and apply and see if it makes sense.

IS there any danger of anyone ever providing any real, tangible results from lessons like these, y'know, things that are quantifiable and that?

No? Oh.

To request proof is not to doubt.

Like others have said, the DVD offers results for a minimal investment. I'm not going to bother quantifying results for you. I will say that this banking technique allows the object ball to acquire a beneficial spin that allows for increased potting (for instance, balls that would normally hang up will go in anyway). In any event, do whatever makes you happy...

If I bought everything I saw praised on here, I'd be even broker even more quickly.

I guess you're one of those gentlemen that still questions why the bumblebee flies.

There's also a reason why people pay for lessons and John charges for lessons.

There is also the adage where people are different: body types, kinisthetics, etc.

In other words, you are making a simple game WAY too complicated.

Good luck in your quest for knowledge.

I always stay away from these talks

There wasn't much to begin with, obviously.

But feel obligated to say something here. I have never paid for a lesson, and NEVER bought an instructional tape or dvd. The last book I bought with any kind of instructional stuff, was 99 critical shots, back in the early 80's. I have seen all of the best players play thru the years, and at this point, I am planning to buy John's dvd. I am not sure if my bank game will come up enough to provide any actual proof for you, but I am certain I will pick up a few things that I wouldn't by watching matches played.

As for your comments, you must already play at a level high enough to not need any improvement. I have watched John play a lot of matches, and beat the best players in the world. He is, what I would call, the best bank player alive, and one of the best of all time. If you can't improve your game by spending a day with him, then you either don't like pool, or you just didn't pay attention, because you already believe you're as good as it gets. Best of luck with your pool game.

:D

Actually, that's precisely the reason why I'm always so skeptical when I read these threads. Pool's a simple game - find a cue and learn how to play yourself, that's my advice.

Yeah, but surely you are interested in superior techniques.

Oh yeah. Calculus isn't that hard either. That's why I just tell school kids to get a calculator and get a move on...

That's some poor advice. Glad you gave it away for free! Good luck with that.
