This was a bad idea and am deleting it. Sad really when you think about it.

Feel Free to blast me. lol
Hey Mr. Williams my name is Charles Eames and I am an avid Straight Pool Player from NY. We met at Valley Forge at the Predator Booth this year and you were a great guy to me and the rest of the fans playing racks with us and letting us try the equipment and answering questions. It has come to my attention that you either have to be invited into the World 14.1 or win a qualifier.
I am writing this basically to ask to be invited. I am not sure what the criteria is but I have a love for straight pool the likes of Thorsten Hohman, John Schmidt, Yourself, Ralf Souquet, Jasmin Ouschan, Allen Hopkins, combined. I would name more but felt that would get a little tedious as I am sure you know all the names I would write.
I am 25 years old and have been playing since I was sixteen. I would love to become a professional. I know its an insane dream but in my opinion its the best dream I can think of. Like many other people on here (AZ) I have a regular job and a family and a loving girlfriend. All of whom wholeheartedly support my pool playing and I would love to do them proud by simply getting invited to play in your incredible tournament. The prestige alone would be incredible to be able to go back to my family and loved ones and say I have been invited to play in a World Championship. I have followed the tourney since 2006 when I first heard about it.
While I will probably play in the qualifier at Amsterdam Billiards in Manhattan I am afraid I will not be able to measure up to the likes of Tony Robles and company.
Basically I could write a whole bunch of cliches about doing it for the AZbilliards little guy but I wont. I want this more than anything I can think of. To be in a room surrounded by that much talent is like a little kid on christmas. I love pool and especially straight pool. I have learned a lot in the last year and am hoping you can find an extra invite for me for next years tourney.
Please get back to me at your earliest convenience. Shoot well.
Sincerely,
Charles M Eames

I absolutely think you should play in the qualifiers, and hopefully make the tourney. However, asking for an invite is in bad taste, in my opinion, because you could basically be taking money out of a pro's pocket that would otherwise have that spot. Money is too short these days for people who ONLY play pool for a living, and I would imagine that for some straight pool players, with those tourneys in short supply, that is doubly true. I'm sorry, but I felt I had to say that. Having said that, I hope if you play in the qualifier/s, that you win and get in.

I`m tired of all the bashing everyone does here , when someone trys to say something worth while. Follow your moms advice ( If you had one) And don`t say anything at all if you can' say anything good!
no, no, in fact professional pool tournaments are not just that. they are in no way shape or form "fantasy camps". they are a place for people with a proven skill set to earn a paycheck. the invite slots are for pros who maybe have i don't know - proven that they would blow through a qualifier thus taking a potential spot away from someone like you. that qualifier system is your ticket to the show. not begging to be let in. and someone said it earlier if you can't win the qualifier than you shouldn't be there.ForumGhost516 said:No business huh I see then what was Liz Ford doing there losing a match by negative four. Ive seen the girl shoot and she shoots great but the field is strong. Im not using it to tell my family anything however if i was invited it would be nice to be able to tell my family. Listen you're more than welcomed to say whatever you want however isnt all pool tournaments a fantasy camp? I mean that is what world championships are for in essence. The chance for a player to live out that dream. Thank you however for your insight i take it you've never actually went for a dream of yours or if you have you obviously failed miserably at it and decided to rain on someone elses parade. Have a great night.

ForumGhost516 said:Wasnt bashsing was simply stating a fact, plus realized this whole thing was a bad idea after about five minutes last night so I took it down. I have met Liz Ford on quite a few occassions and I think she shoots great which is what is written right after that you just happened to leave that part out.
