Sorry guys it was too long to PM and I didnt want to shorten it. Guys Im sorry for all of you reading this and think its stupid but its my dream and AZ is the perfect place to post it.

Feel Free to blast me. lol

Hey Mr. Williams my name is Charles Eames and I am an avid Straight Pool Player from NY. We met at Valley Forge at the Predator Booth this year and you were a great guy to me and the rest of the fans playing racks with us and letting us try the equipment and answering questions. It has come to my attention that you either have to be invited into the World 14.1 or win a qualifier.

I am writing this basically to ask to be invited. I am not sure what the criteria is but I have a love for straight pool the likes of Thorsten Hohman, John Schmidt, Yourself, Ralf Souquet, Jasmin Ouschan, Allen Hopkins, combined. I would name more but felt that would get a little tedious as I am sure you know all the names I would write.

I am 25 years old and have been playing since I was sixteen. I would love to become a professional. I know its an insane dream but in my opinion its the best dream I can think of. Like many other people on here (AZ) I have a regular job and a family and a loving girlfriend. All of whom wholeheartedly support my pool playing and I would love to do them proud by simply getting invited to play in your incredible tournament. The prestige alone would be incredible to be able to go back to my family and loved ones and say I have been invited to play in a World Championship. I have followed the tourney since 2006 when I first heard about it.

While I will probably play in the qualifier at Amsterdam Billiards in Manhattan I am afraid I will not be able to measure up to the likes of Tony Robles and company.

Basically I could write a whole bunch of cliches about doing it for the AZbilliards little guy but I wont. I want this more than anything I can think of. To be in a room surrounded by that much talent is like a little kid on christmas. I love pool and especially straight pool. I have learned a lot in the last year and am hoping you can find an extra invite for me for next years tourney.

Please get back to me at your earliest convenience. Shoot well.

Sincerely,
Charles M Eames

Gotta love your enthusiasm and sticking your humble neck out there.

Wishing you the best of luck, if not this time around, sooner rather than later.

Keep the dream alive!

ForumGhost- Please don't take this the wrong way. What I am going to say may sound bad, but hear me out. I absolutely think you should play in the qualifiers, and hopefully make the tourney. However, asking for an invite is in bad taste, in my opinion, because you could basically be taking money out of a pro's pocket that would otherwise have that spot. Money is too short these days for people who ONLY play pool for a living, and I would imagine that for some straight pool players, with those tourneys in short supply, that is doubly true. I'm sorry, but I felt I had to say that. Having said that, I hope if you play in the qualifier/s, that you win and get in.

You are more than welcomed to put that in and while that may be the case I dont see how that is relevant here. Like I understand if you want to make a point for the past thats cool but at least make it pertain to the thread at hand.

Got You

I totally understand where you are coming from. In truth I honestly dont believe I will get there, like I will play in the qualifiers and hopefully make it but I doubt I will get in. I will be tryin though.

Thank you all for all of your insights good bad or indifferent.

Hay, the World Championships isn`t some kind of fantasy camp 4 hacks 2 have fun with. If U can`t qualify, then U probably have no business playing in it. Don`t use it 2 tell ur family that U R a big time player if ur not there. Sorry :sorry:

No business huh I see then what was Liz Ford doing there losing a match by negative four. Ive seen the girl shoot and she shoots great but the field is strong. Im not using it to tell my family anything however if i was invited it would be nice to be able to tell my family. Listen you're more than welcomed to say whatever you want however isnt all pool tournaments a fantasy camp? I mean that is what world championships are for in essence. The chance for a player to live out that dream. Thank you however for your insight i take it you've never actually went for a dream of yours or if you have you obviously failed miserably at it and decided to rain on someone elses parade. Have a great night.

Ghost????????

I'm a big fan of yours an I think you may be missing your calling. I've got one word for you that may change your whole life NASCAR. Have you considered stockcar racing? Its where all the money is. If you made it on the Nascar circuit an could buddy up with Tony Stewart you would have somebody to practice pool with. Hope this helps.........

Since you don't get it........

You won't even play Straycat because you didn't have the money to go to Florida after YOU called him out. I offered a plan to get Straycat to NY to play and you vanished.

What if you did get an invite? You couldn't afford to go.

Your little RED rep that you sent is damn funny!!! What's your rep worth? About 4 points. LOL.

Why don't you start with something realistic.....like challenge SteveKur1 to King of AZ NY for $50. Now there's something that could improve your rep here.

I'd Like To Be 'Invited' Tp Play In The WSOP...... (I'm going to wait by my mailbox)

If you could just get Grady to co-sign the letter before you send it, it might give it more weight with CW. Johnnyt

True...and be sure to tell Charlie that SmorgassBored endorses you as well. (maybe JAM will sign on too)

Tired of the BS & Mad

So the guys wants to follow his dream! Good for him. The rest of you AZers Go shut the heck up! I`m tired of all the bashing everyone does here , when someone trys to say something worth while. Follow your moms advice ( If you had one) And don`t say anything at all if you can' say anything good!

And it seems to me it`s always the same azers who spout negative words on any thing they consider themselves experts in. As if they are the azers commitee on what's right and wrong with any issue on here. Please spare us the holier than thou attitudes!

And if you are one of those idiots , you'll know it because you will be the ones responding to this with your stupid remarks.

Hummmm ..... OK ... I will be "one of those idiots" and say something good.

It is good to see someone following his own advice.

It is good for someone to beg their way into something they have not earned and are not entitled to as that has become the American way as of late and it is a good thing.

It would be good if the guys around here would go on the lemon and let me win a tournament so I could tell my grand kids ... wait ... my grand kids are playing in it.

It is good to see so many standing up for something that is so obviously wrong ... I think ... I will ask my mom about that.

Just my humble opinion about the good things in life.

no, no, in fact professional pool tournaments are not just that. they are in no way shape or form "fantasy camps". they are a place for people with a proven skill set to earn a paycheck. the invite slots are for pros who maybe have i don't know - proven that they would blow through a qualifier thus taking a potential spot away from someone like you. that qualifier system is your ticket to the show. not begging to be let in. and someone said it earlier if you can't win the qualifier than you shouldn't be there.

Who do you think YOU are? Bashing Liz Ford ain't gonna help your cause. She's a pro, and earned her right to be there. You're not.

Let's see. Charles Eames accomplishments:

1) Just got off a 3-week ban on this forum.
2) Called out everyone on this forum and then backed down when they wanted to play him.
3) Wants to step up to the big-time with a free pass. Anyone that says otherwise is "ruining his dream".

There are at least two major tours in your area that you could participate in to play with the "big boys":

Tony Robles Predator Tour
The Tri-State Tour

I can't find your name on either roster.
So who are you, Charles Eames?
Impress us with your resume.

Wasnt bashsing was simply stating a fact, plus realized this whole thing was a bad idea after about five minutes last night so I took it down. I have met Liz Ford on quite a few occassions and I think she shoots great which is what is written right after that you just happened to leave that part out.

????????????

NASCAR.......I can only point you in the right direction. I can't actually drive for you an tell Tony Hi!

You BASHED Liz Ford. You claimed she didn't belong there.
Don't change the facts.
And if you decided this was a bad idea after 5 minutes. why did it take you 3 hours to remove your post?
Was it because this forum sees you as the PUNK you really are?
