I want to give my sincere gratitude to Erica & crew for putting up a great 10 hour live stream of nothing but grinding one pocket, straight up from the rail at Big Tyme Billiards. Richie Richeson and Josh "The Beast" Roberts were great to watch. This recording is up for temporary promotional purposes for everyone to watch, with the hopes to send a promising message for the future of our game.
Yes, we have YouTube, which HAS BEEN a great tool for our sport for many years. YouTube by far has plenty of material to make them richer for the next 100 years. And put some change in the pockets of those who create, produce, steal, pirate, and publish billiard videos there.
It is now the billiard industry's turn. The players deserve more respect and compensation for their talent online. The only way that will be accomplished, in my opinion, is if we starve off the trends that have continually landed copyrights of others work in jeopardy. The players worth as well.
I'm asking for help to organize an effort to use the internet and its tools to generate revenue for the sport, and stop at nothing to achieve it..
Let's use the tools of the internet, by popular belief, the way that it was designed.
Any entity by itself who is proving a great service to our sport for exposure and sponsors, no doubt is good for billiard business, and personal gain. But think about the players for a second. What's in it for them to show off their talents to the camera? Attention? Fame? Glory? CERTAINLY! Where's the money, cash, mullah? Pwoof......It's scarce! In my opinion, the reason why its scarce, because until recently producers of live streams had no other choice to leverage the players talent to trade it for the service to get it to the public. Those day's could be over, and should be considered. (already somewhat done)
Today folks, it's a different story. Privatized niches are starting up, and is on the brink of discovery. Yes we've already had a few. And the #1 niche market for live streaming currently is, (where our youth is) Video Game Streaming. I want billiards to be #2 or even #5 at worst. Can we do it? Can we all really come together and do it if we could all agree that it's beneficial for the sport? How about the election of a panel to do a case study?
I've recently confided in a few great people in our industry, and some have come to me seeking expertise and help too. I couldn't be more proud about that. But my pride has been on the ropes too. Bad decisions, and bad dealings. My fault too, and some not. But it's time to move on, and explore the avenues for US, AND THEM. (Live Streamers and Players)
Not a single producer of live content of billiards past, present or future, will ever sustain enough stamina to reach the benchmarks needed to solicit big advertising. I'm talking about the TREE. I'm talking about no 3rd parties. Not Roku, YouTube, Ustream, Livestream, AV Web, NONE. I'm talking about US. A vehicle with many of us generating the benchmarks. Yeah yeah, 100,000 views. Yeah Yeah, 300 viewers. 700 viewers. That means absolutely nothing when it's on a 3rd party. Those unrealistic numbers, all that it has ever done has separated us, and made us hate each other, NO MIDDLEMEN GENTLEMEN is the answer. It's half built already. Join US.
