I spoke with Dennis a short while ago. He's a very charming and humble man. He's been making cases for over 20 years. They are rugged, durable, and attractive.

They are also very reasonably priced, easily competitive with production leather cases. I've made a page for him on my web site including contact information.

Dennis does make a great case. I bought a 3x6 used from Will Prout about 10 years ago and is the case I still use to this day.

i think i may currently have one of his cases.. although.. what thows me off.. is the bottem.. mine has a planet stamped on the bottem.. with a 6 on one side and a 05 on the other.. do you know if he uses that now? i never seen anything like it.. and everything about the case wants to tell me its one of his.. even the top pocket is rounded with the 9 ball rack on it.. hand painted in silver (its easy to tell it was hand because you can see where it starts and stops.. also the inside looks exactly like that.. i will pos some pics in the next post..

Please call Dennis and discuss. It make take a few calls to get ahold of him but it will be worth it. You will not be disappointed in his prices.

His tooling is pretty distinct. If I can see the case, that would be a big help. he has thrown some curves in his designs. he likes to experiment with designs but most of the people who order from him have a set pattern.

I like the two tone cases. My natural one has a basket weave side in black - sharp looking. Many of his cases are dyed - the dark blue he uses is particularly good looking.

Well, it's either one of his cases or someone went to a lot of trouble to make it look like one of his cases. The 9 ball rack doesn't look like his typical stuff, but everything else does.

I'll e-mail someone who knows Dennis (Dennis doesn't go online much) to see if he can help.

Chris

sure.. the 9 ball rack look sexactly like the ones i seen pictures of.. but like i said. this one looks to be hand painted.. maybe whoever had the case first painted it.. any info would be great.. and what would you say the value is.. rough estimate.. thanx.. chris

I'm 90% sure it's a Swift case although not 100%. My other source wasn't positive either.

If it is, it would have a re-sale used of about $200 - $250.

If you really want to find out, you could mail him pics and a letter to:

I kind of hope you do and let us know the story on this case mystery.

Chris

i just may do that.. i will have to make a trip and have a few pictures made.. thanx for the info..

very much appreciated..

Semi-Hijacking . . . .

Pics of my two Swift cases. The one on the left is 3x6 and the one on the right is 2x4. Both are built like tanks and great looking to boot!

Hey Chris.. got some pics printed out at the local walgreens and i am going to mail them to dennis tomorrow.. i will let you know the outcome..
i figure he will probably know the history of it.. especially the planet on the bottem.. that must signify something..maybe who he made it for and maybe that 6 05 means something too.. or else why would it be there.. i dont know if it is the year or not.. i want to know before i try and sell it.. i do think it is his though.. i will probably ask $230 plus shipping OBO... i think that is fair.. i will let you know how i make out for sure. :)

That's great - maybe after you mail them give it a couple of days and call Dennis. I got him on the phone, no problem, and he's a real gentleman.

Chris

Chris,

I just got word from an expert that it's not one of Dennis' cases. It was made by another leathercrafter in the Atlanta area.

I would still send the pics to Dennis - he might now the name of the other maker. At least it's a hand made custom, not a stamped import.

The phone number for Dennis Swift is on the Dennis Swift page on my web site.

all the best,

Chris

chris.. thanx for the info.. i did send the pics today... if somebody else in fact did make the case.. they did a pretty good job copying it.. from what i seen it looks sooo close.. like you said the 9ball rack looked different.. in my opinion it looks very similar with no silver but i think the balls may be in different order.. anyways.. i will let everyone know when i find iut.. thanx..
