Since I inherited and moved my grandfathers pool table a few years ago..

I've been asking around for photographs of the table with family members at or around it. This is my mothers family... She had 3 brothers and 1 sister, which in turn provided my grandparents with 18 grand children. So I didn't think it would be too much of a stretch to find a couple of pictures, but each time I asked I was rewarded with blank stares and lost memories. Anyway....

This past weekend I was at my parents home for my mothers above mentioned family Christmas. My dad had put together a slide show that he was displaying in the living room. These were in that slide show... (all of which were taken just a few years ago)

1) Yours truly with the table in the back ground.

2) My mothers oldest sister at the table with another aunt and my grandfather watching.

3) My favorite... My grandfather and I at the table...

I feel like I hit the jackpot!

Wow, what a great story, 3rd generation on Grandpa's table.

You are pretty little in the picture; did you get to play with him when you were old enough to remember?

My grandfather was a farmer... the kind that worked every day of his life from sun up to sun down and then dedicated the rest of his time to family...

Having said that, I do have memories of playing on that table with cousins, aunts, uncles etc.. However I don't recall ever being at the table with Grandpa. But by golly I do have photographic evidence.

I'm going to guess that those photo's were taken about 40 years ago.

What I do have are memories of are mending fence, cutting cattle from the herd, tending to sick cattle, planting and picking crops with him, then going to the local farmers gossip joint with him and being called "little Roy" (his name).

After looking at his bridge above, I did ask my dad whether Grandpa was a player or a banger. His response was that Grandpa was known to spend some "quality time" at the local pool hall, but that is all dad would tell me.

My room is loaded with memorabilia, but nothing could be better then what you have, the Pool table itself plus all those great photos of family members around it. I hope that table stays in your family for future generations to appreciate as you do.Thanks for the great post.

Having a table with that much history and meaning is so much more valuable than any brand spanking new one.

WOW!!! That's cool! I actually got a 9 foot version of this same table sitting in my garage. I love seeing it put together! Does yours have a ball return then?

Very nice table! You're extremely fortunate to have a table that is not only beautiful but also carries such sentimental value. Enjoy it for many years!!

Jeff

PS: I had some cool pants just like those in the hoola hoop pic when I was about your age!

What great pics & stories! I'm definitely the one on in our family that loves to take pics of everyone & I'm glad I've gotten some of various people at our pool table too. :)
