A pool game that would pay the house?

One way to improve the standing of billiards is to bring it in to the arena of "legitimate gambling" venues. So here is my question for interested readers: how could billiards be set up to make for a popular game that casinos could profit from?

How about just making it something the pool room owners could profit from?

possibly if you did it like keno..

have flat screens showing the match all over the building.. as well as seating in a live arena..

have the keno runners take pool bets as well..

it would have to be heavily handicapped and stat intensive.. to give half way reliable odds to the casual gambler..

It can't have anything to do with actual competition because it would be self eliminating. In other words, in a short no one would play any more except the best players who themselves would also quit once even better players got involved. It would have to be what we used to call "Proposition games". You would have to have challenges players wold play against for prize money. They have to be games that the player just plays against the house. This assumes you are somewhere like Vegas where it would be legal.

things like this have already has been pitched to no avail to the indian casinos.....

not that it wouldn't work....maybe the former pitches just were not good enough.....

im not a liberty to give details but I know a multi multi million dollar offer was refused by the some midwestern casinos in the past few years.


guess they would rather play Chick-tac-toe


you play tic tac toe against a chicken in the casino.......you really can't win b/c your playing a computer and the best you can do is push.....but the chicken is trained to peck at a corn grain.....the computer drops the corn grain on the board and the chicken "picks" the spot to play.

I didn't make this up.....thats real deal redneck sh*t

Some years ago they had a tournament where betting was allowed. The casino made lines on the matches. Needless to say they were dumped and stopped it midway through the tournament. Players like Buddy Hall, Mike Segal, David Howard, all fixed matches. It was so bad they didn't even make it look good. I remember David Howard missing a 9 ball twice before the other player could manage to make it.

I am definitely not suggesting betting on a pool match. LOL. :rotflmao: That would get dumped faster than waste management's Monday morning load. It would have to be an individual challenge, like beating a 14.1 house high run that would have a progressive jackpot. Maybe some sort of challenge could be created like running a four pack of 10 ball on difficult equipment. I am sure some sort of arrangement could be made that would attract players and benefit the house.

Booking pool has been tried in the past and the casinos don't want any more of it. Typical case of pool players screwing themselves for a short profit. They are their own worst enemies.
