A Purple Five Ball Makes No Sense to Me

OK, maybe purple isn't that good of a color for TV so change the four ball to pink to make it stand out more on TV. I'm OK with that.
A black and Yellow Nine Ball doesn't bother me either. Can't deny that it does stand out on the table.
HOWEVER, if purple sucked on the four ball why is it acceptable on the five ball? Orange is very vivid color and shows up great. DO THE CHINESE MASTERS AT PREDATOR HATE ORANGE? What other reason could Predator have to make this stupid change.

I watch and never know what ball they are shooting.

So you don’t like the commentators or the ball colors. Why don’t you tell us what you do like? Let’s “glass half full” this shit!

The only people who know which tv ball is which is the pros playing on tv. Very very few people have ever seen a tv set at there local hall and when they turn on the TV to watch billiards there as lost as ever. Great someone can see a color a better but that means nothing when you don't know the number to that color

I see your point. But, to be fair, very very few people can tell you what the ball colors are “supposed” to be.

i remember the “colors for tv” beginning when pink and brown showed up replacing purple and maroon

but wait! tvs now look better than real life!
there is no more arguing about viewing different colors (or should i say colours?)
when you can see a hd speck of chalk dust on the ball

Someone who's never played I agree but even the minimum average player does and even they have no chance of following the game. I play at a room occasionally that has a stream table with tv balls and have to go visually check the number on the ball to make certain if I wanna get shape on that ball or not, rediculous and not needed. Maybe a few years ago but cameras have gotten real good and I can't imagine color being an issue now

I understand your point. I'm lucky that it's never been a problem for me. I never make the ball I'm shooting at, so I never had a need to know what ball was next. :)

I view all the different variations of ball colors, racks, cue designs & whatever else related to pool to be marketing.
If theses didn’t change who would need to buy more ?
Many of these things would last a person a lifetime.
We wouldn’t have any sponsors to support the meager money to be made.

The blue ball in snooker changed from a darker to a lighter shade so long ago that I can't remember when it happened.

I don't like the black and yellow 9 and am not a fan of the new TV colors let alone the TV colors introduced a few years back. But, until pool money reaches anything remotely resembling that of snooker, a relatively small number of afficionados buying 3-4 sets of balls for their home table will drive the powers that be to sell them (even if they are yet to break even on the change).
