So I was watching a match with jenifer Beretta and Dawn Fox! (Ok, I have a crush on Dawn) ;) anyways! So as I'm watching, I realize that that JB and Lou match was about to happen!

During the Fox/Beretta match, I noticed John was practicing on a table and at one point it seemed like a ball was thrown at his(him) table and bounced once of the slate and he caught it! Immediately the commentators jumped off and went to "stop a problem"!

What happened? Did somebody really throw a ball at you John?

Sorry for bringing this up now but I'm really curious because I followed both of you during that time. I remembered reading some of the posts about "issues" you were having before and during the match. Well, after seeing that,,,, I'm curious:)

Thanks in advanced.

That would be the incident between JB and Eric right before we played.

#####
About an hour before the match, there is a kerfuffle in the main room across from where I’m standing with Dustin and Mike. John starts woofing at Eric. I want to clarify: Eric was not part of my crew. I know Eric going back to the days of RSB and when I saw him at Sandcastle I went up to greet him. That’s it.

“Come on Eric, let’s play a quick race to five for a thousand,” John woofs. Eric basically tells John to go fornicate himself. But John persists. He will not stop goading Eric and soon Eric has had enough and he and John are literally nose-to-nose, pool balls clutched in fists. I’m watching all this from the other side of the pool room and thinking, “There will be no match and oh, BTW, John is going to require some serious dental work tomorrow.” Fortunately, AZer, Mitch, is nearby and he steps in and reminds both parties that many folks want to see the match come off and they should back off and not jeopardize the game. They separate.

BTW, does anyone else see JB leave/return from his table with BIH?

In the video I saw JB catch a ball that bounced off the table. That's what this thread asked about.

I don't see anything in your post about that.

While I am not a big fan of the drama, the topic was brought up and I am very curious about that.

Exactly! Words are words bit people throwing shit at people is a little too much!

I've woofed and got woofed at but nobody EVERY through a pool ball at anyone!

And yes, good catch by JB!

If you rewind a little from this point you can hear the announcers talk a bit more about it, and also see that people in the background are looking over there, then start to motion to the booth to come over. There is definitely something going on before the ball is thrown. Hard to say exactly what from the vid.

Start from here and watch the guy in the background look over, then he and a few others motion to the booth. Also at a point a guy picks up a ball off the floor and puts it back on Johns table.

+1 that is one side of the story, I'd like to hear the other. Not that I am discounting it, but there are always other takes and the truth is usually somewhere in between.

The announcers say a couple things afterwards like lots of people are taking sides and getting involved.

Oh, this was from 2014? Yeah, that was me and JBnutCase. It pretty much went exactly as Lou described.

FWIW, there was no ball thrown, there was no "good catch", etc. After JB wouldnt let up, I figured I'd walk over and crack him. JB saw me coming over and grabbed a ball in each hand.

Old news.

It looks like the ball the kid picked up from the floor, might of popped out of the ball return gully that is common on the gold crowns... JB just shot a ball in the hole on that side of the ball popped out.

This is what I see:

At 52:10 JB leaves his table with the CB in his hand. I believe this was when he went over to Eric's table, woofing about playing a race for $1,000.

At 52:25 he returns to his table and throws the CB back onto the table.

At 54:45 John leaves his table again. This time he has picked up the CB & 7 ball. I believe this is when it got serious and they went nose to nose, balls in hand... so to speak.

At 54:59 JB catches a ball. I believe this was a jump shot or 1pocket take out shot that went bad on an adjoining table. He appears to catch the ball and then walks in a different direction than previously to return the ball to the other table, so it probably would not be in Eric's direction. (For the record, I did not see Eric throw a ball.)

At 55:15 a kid walks by JB's table and picks a ball up off the floor that probably jumped out of the ball return.

Just recently John denied picking up any pool balls during his confrontation with Eric right before our match. I would have to say the tape says otherwise.

Something is definitely going on at 54:13, as you can see by people looking over there in the background but it is off camera. At 54:30 they start flagging the booth to come over. I would say that is when the altercation is almost happening. You guys were there though.

No one threw a ball.

In the previous photo, JB was practicing on the first table to the far right; I believe Eric was playing on the middle table just to the left; I was standing next to the first table at the far left observing everything with Mike and Dustin. IOW, I saw everything from just two tables away. No ball was thrown.

Yeah I edited my post to say it doesn't seem like it was a bad hit. That is one hell of a wild shot then at a pretty heated time. haha.

There were a lot of ugly words and "FYs" being bandied about right about then.

Folks started waving to the booth because Ed, the owner of Sandcastle, was in the booth doing commentary.
