  • Start date Start date
Silencer is OK, lots of started threads, but occasionally comes out with some great stuff. Just mostly it is a little difficult to read because of his lack of paragraphs (my only real criticism of the guy).

I personally don't care about the swearing, although some of his threads have been a little(!) questionable ('Sigel is a Jew: discuss' for example).

So don't be asking Mike to ban him. As has been said above, if everyone just backed off on him a little bit things would be much cooler.

I guess in this day and age of OJ and Kobe and Michael Jackson you could defend anyone. Now I know there has been nothing that egregious committed here. But you must admit that what Silencer did was pretty awful. But still we get blamed for his indiscretion?

Oh poor little Adolph. If he wasnt rejected by Art school in Vienna. He would have been a contribution to creativity instead of invading all those countries and bombing all those people.
Ah poor Jeffrey. If he didnt have such a tormented and lonely youth he wouldnt have to murder all those young boys.

You see how ridiculous it sounds.

OK let me put it this way. If he was that fine snooker player Quentin Hann from Down Under we could understand his behaviour. He is one of the new breed of snooker who brings such excitement to the game. Or a Ronnie O'Sullivan or a Alex Higgins. We can forgive their excess' and bad boy behaviour. What they do for the game is phenomenal and raises it to another level. Its an equal trade off and such can be said for Earl the Pearl. Yeah so they are eccentric. What they give back to us and the game is wonderful.

But the Silencer. Nope. He is not funny. I live in NY and it is a great city and well known for its humor. Silencer falls flat on his face in that department. Does he write well? You have answered that yourself. Is he profound? How can he when he makes judgements about players after seeing him once on tv and claiming he is the next Efren Reyes while the real Efren Reyes is done for. He doesnt seem to know too much about pool. At least other than whats on tv and his knowledge of other games besides 8 ball is nil. So what are you guys defending anyway. I thought he was on his way of becoming a responsible poster with his proposal for a new format at the World's. But can you really accept his diatribe of offensive words. Only offensive because he meant it to be offensive without any concern for others feelings or age. This guy you defend is Irrelevant, a Non Entity, and acts like a little Bitch. No ones being fooled here.

So sayeth yobagua: "So what are you guys defending anyway."

You cannot ban someone for being a semi-troll. The guy was trying to make a joke for crying out loud! Because the joke was bad, everyone has jumped on him. I don't feel that that is fair or reasonable behaviour.

If you don't like his posts, then drop him on your ignore list. Problem solved.

Raistlin --> thinks that people are looking for a new whipping boy post-Larry.

Hustler08 is only 13. This is the main reason this idiot shouldn't be around using language like that. It has no place on the board.

Kent Mc.

I'm sure Hustler08 hears far worse than Silencer's mad rantings when he hangs round pool halls after school.

:)

No, Raistlin...the new whipping boy has already been found and that would be Silencer. There's not a thread that he starts or a post that he makes whereby SOMEBODY doesn't open their big f#*king mouth immediately about the mere fact that he even has the audacity to breathe oxygen here on Earth, let alone post some words. It doesn't matter what his response is, some shit is going to fly. Is that proper? Who doled out the power to a bozo group of supreme rulers to be able to make these criticisms? Their responses are totally excessive already, just as they'll claim that his remarks are.

Last night before dozing off, there wasn't much of interest on TV so I was channel surfing when I came upon The National Geographic station. There was a black tribe in Africa (or somewhere) that had a ritual when the boys and girls of the tribe turned 13 to show their arrival into adulthood. The girls went through a face tatooing by some old tribal geezer that pierced their face with 3-4 needles tied together and he made intricate tribal designs that signified different things to the other tribe members. His hand went back and forth like a sewing machine for hours as he weaved his handy work and was quite painful. However, the most important part was that the girl should not show pain or any signs of discomfort during the procedure. If she did, she would be looked down upon unfavorably by the tribe. The boys, two at a time, had whips made of long thin limbs and took turns whipping the living shit out of each other as hard as they could muster like Lash LaRue. Huge long welts came up and blood was drawn. The one that whipped the other kid the hardest and the one that showed no signs of pain or flinching during the beating was declared the winner by the tribe and both were then recognized as adults for going through the initiation. That whole scene has me envisioning Bernie as the whipping boy with the other tribe members flailing away, but when it's his turn to whip back (as in verbal self defense or a swearing tirade) it's verboten. Maybe the tribe needs to lay off as well.

And my feelings about a kid being on here like Hustler08, the only one that I know of, is that this is an adult forum of hard core pool shooting guys, past and present and sometimes things are going to get out of hand just like in a pool room or on the streets. We're not asking Hultler08 to stand toe to toe with another kid his age and whip the dogshit out of each other, but if he or anyone else is going to be recognized as an adult amongst adults, then he can hear it here or leave himself. If anyone is going to be banned, and all the do-gooders and holy rollers are going to whine and cry about occasional swearing, then I think it should be anyone under 18. They can come back when they grow up. So, that having been said, if Bernie were to go, does that make me the new candidate for whipping boy?

I did not even complain I was just bored and wanted to say that I learned so new words...but I guess ppl like drivemaker take things too serious. And for ths statment of banning 18 and under ppl that makes no sense. And yes Jules I do hear much worst names in pool halls :)

Hey, young dude...based on your last post I think you have a great overall attitude toward the whole thing and I am NOT in favor of banning anyone under 18 that can play really good and has a promising future in the game, especially since I started sneaking into pool halls at 14. That's when there was an age limit of 16 to get in and many of the individuals who frequented the place all had questionable pasts and weren't very good influences. I think you'll get a good education on here in many ways. My suggestion for it is to shut the adults up on this forum who want to shield you and your supposed virgin ears from cussing. Maybe that'll appease THEM.

Since they all want to do so much good for you (HA!), and since I've never seen one word written otherwise from any of them, I'll ask you some questions. First off, I'd really like to see you play one day. Have a video made and send it to me. I think it's super that you have this kind of talent and are making it into bigger and bigger tournaments. But, what are you doing in other phases of your life? Are you going to try to pick up some extra money by working during the summer? What are you doing to better yourself outside of pool? How hard do you keep your nose to the grindstone on the school work? What do you think you'll do after HS? Is college in your future? How would you feel about receiving a scholarship for a big tournament? What is your secondary plan just in case you don't become the next Efren, Earl, Johnny, or Bustamante? To me, answering those questions and helping to guide you down other paths in addition to pool is even more important that you hearing a string of cusswords. However, this is an adult forum...if the adults keep bitching to protect you (which is a load of crap anyway) then I'll push toward an underage disclaimer or age limit. Do you understand where I'm coming from?

I think Mike has probably been away or on vacation. This would have been removed otherwise.

Drivermaker I see you yourself had the sense and maturity to cover your swear words with the #$@'s. Im not trying to protect anyone but you know if you came into my house or place of work or my pool hall and started using that kind of language you would be asked to leave. Now Bernie made a nice post about World Championship format and then he attempted to make a joke. Thats fine. But how he responded in my opinion was reprehensible. Now I do have a right to my opinion dont I? Or does your faction want to ban me from having one.?

PS I too watched the same program on National Geographic. Glad to see others with that kind of eclectic tastes.

Yo....Yo....You do have a right to your opinion and I want to ban NO ONE. As I see it, we're just both responding to ours and others opinions.

You watched it also?....sounds like two geeks in a pod.

No...going to the 14 and under nationals isn't important enough for me to go to, especially since I and a number of other people on here could kick your butt 7 days a week and twice on Sunday. Plus, I've already seen all of the top players in the world from 4 decades ago to present so you're not even close to being in the same class. You might think you are, and you might want to be, but only time will tell. I do wish you the best though, so good luck.

As far as your aspirations go, that's great and don't lose sight. Pool is only a game, and as it is in today's world, not even close to the highest paying sport to the upper echelon as other games.

And since there are currently no age limitations for being on this website or disclaimers regarding language, you do have a right to be on here. So, the next time somebody other than your own parents tries to shield you from a personal fight that's going on at this forum and there's foul language involved, why don't you tell them where to go and that your father gave you permission to be here throughout. Otherwise, if it's too offensive for you (which it doesn't seem to be) I would suggest some other billiard forums or newsgroups like Billiards Digest or Inside Pool that would accept you and your future just as readily. Otherwise, do your thing. Do you have your parents permission or is that unnecessary?

Well, look at it this way- If hustler could go back in time to when you were 14, he would probably kick your butt.

For you to get so angry because people crack jokes about the Silencer is beyond comprehension. Sure, stick up for the guy...but why get so emotional?

"SOMEBODY doesn't open their big f#*king mouth ....."

Man drivemaker...I dont want to waist my time talking to you, so whatever your right. I bet that boost your little ego hu?

Ah.. Youth versus the elders.

Drivermaker, I think the whole point that was being made is that foul language shouldn't be allowed on this forum. People get offended by it no matter what their age is. Maybe not you, maybe not me, maybe not Hustler, but it happens. There's no good reason to use it. Some things are just offensive to some people.

For the record, I'm 16, and I heard no new words (though two were strung together quite creatively).

I think you were telling a nice little fib about your grades, young dude. I think you better put more time into English and spelling. You need to boost your intellect in greater proportion to your pool game and ego. Come back after your tournament and post the results in a concise and well written fashion. Maybe this could lead to a successful career in sports journalism instead of being a future wise assed pool room woofer.

That's not being emotional...that's just telling it like it is. Besides, none of us knows the actual state of mind of anyone else on the other side of their screen. Every time I'm on here I'm laughing my ass off as I type because this whole scene is just a goofy diversion from things in life that really are serious and create angst. Or haven't you learned that yet?

Drivermaker, book yourself into Betty Ford at the earliest opportunity. I reckon that 14-year-old kid could probably stuff you at pool anyway.

I don't drink or do drugs. You reckon wrong about that...but do you reckon that YOU could stuff me? (Jules...just another across the ocean wannabe-woofer)
