A small situation

Situation goes, apparently yesterday when I wasn't there some pretty loud woofing and boasting was going on at the room.

Some people were saying this one dude was the best in the room, and someone else stepped up and said I was the best.

Well apparently, when I was mentioned this guy we'll call him dinky stepped out of one of the rooms and started proclaiming he could beat me I wasn't the best bla bla...

Well today, just an hour ago I stopped in there and I wasn't looking for anything in general. Just stopped in to hang out. Well dinky walks in there and sure enough everyone in there starts woofing. I personally don't give a damn but he starts getting mouthy about it... this starts to turn my behavior toward the whole matter.

Not a few minutes into it, sure enough someone says they'll put money on me. I stop him right there and let em' know I have to leave in 5 minutes ( college class ).. that however changes when dinky proclaims he'll beat my @ss in less then 5 minutes.. so with a slight chuckle I say aight i'll play.

Long story short, he loses, says we didn't shake hands so the bet never happened.

Never gamble with him again or what?

I'd take higher ground and ignore him. If he asks you to gamble again then remind him of the time you beat his ass and he didn't pay you. People will see him for what he is. If it persists have a 3rd party hold the money and beat his ass again; make sure it is in front of everybody.

Go to class and learn another lesson.

When you play on emotions and don't post.. you lose.

Are you talking about him or me?

This was set up at a feverish pace, I was late for class as it was anyway. It was racked, broke, and over in minutes..

This is simple, there was money on the game, both sides knew about it, he lost and took a nit way out of it...

If ya wanna gamble and be sure to get your money, ya gotta have someone else hold it. Period. No matter how fast it was set up.

You can take this from the whole situation. Everyone there saw it all happen, and the guy who not only lost the game has also lost respect from everyone in the room. That's worth quite a bit, in and of itself.

I wouldn't gamble with him again, certainly.

Congrats, though. Nice to shut up a loud mouth, isn't it?

I feel like I got the worse end of it

best money you never got

It's sort of like the guy you loan $100 to and who then disappears from your life instead of paying you back; it only cost you $100 to find out what a d*^k he is, same thing here. You didn't get the money, but you got the story to tell, and it's got to be worth every penny you didn't get.
Oh, and if you play on emotion and don't post, you lose.....

post

All bs aside, you need to post. if you don't get paid, it's your fault. I've been cuffed before, and it sucks.

Money on the wood makes a bet good.

if he ever approaches you stick out your hand

I'd ignore him, enough people will talk about him. If he ever approaches you again, just stick out your hand. Do that every time he approaches you. Don't say a word just stick out your hand. If he gets mouthy simply tell him you never bet with somebody until all old bets between you are settled. Then shut up and stick out your hand again, don't argue. I've made a few people crazy just sticking out my hand for money every time I saw them. Ran a few people off like that too. They got tired of everyone being reminded that they were bad action.

learn to treat gambling like a business decision and not some hot headed chest puffing.
