No, not what you are thinking, get your mind out of the gutter. Here I am, sitting at a tournament in Portland, OR. It's a bar box tournament at the Nitehawk. Scrumptious food, I might add.

Anyway, we were sitting around discussing the BCA Nationals coming up and I decided to go look at the registered Grand Masters list for Vegas. There are 10 men registered so far.

Guess what? In my upper bracket in this tournament (I am the only 'girl'), 4 of those 10 Grand Masters are in my bracket! And the other 3 are no slouches either - which includes Eddie Mataya (my next opponent), Justin Lilje, and Russ Pettis.

The 4 Grand Masters are Stan Tournageau, Dan Louie, Glenn Atwell, and Mike Zimmerman.

Now that's what I call a stiff one!

Good Luck Woman!!

I recently met Stan T at the SBE! What a nice guy!!

So I have to ask, why are you playing in the Men's brackets when you could go long in the Women's Masters??

I guess you didn't understand. I am the only woman in this bar box tournament. And our upper bracket here was loaded with those 4 GM's.

That's a new slang term for me

That's a new slang term for me. I've never heard that one before.

"Man I got a stiffy" can't wait to use it ahaha. I wish I had that kind of competition in my are sheesh.

Sounds like the draw from hell. What do the other brackets look like?

Please update the results if you can, I heard that Dan is playing a lot and hitting the balls real good. Dan seems to be the person I always end up rooting for.

Yeah I was going to play in that one had I not had my corporate office volunteer me to oversee night shift safety on a shutdown all this past week and this upcoming week. Just to burnt out to play and haven't shot a ball in a week and a half. I have to head to work that way this afternoon maybe I'll swing in there and see how things are going.

But yeah I thought the same thing when I organized the list of players entered in BCA Nationals when I saw the list of Grand Masters. It was pretty much all of the players who were in the WesternBCA regionals tourney minus Stan and maybe Russ. But you add Todd Marsh and others and its a "stiffy" all right. :D

It is lonely at the top or so I am told however, Mike Zimmerman should be considered a bye with what you know.

I'm not sure what you mean? I don't know anything? The top is crowded, not lonely. And Mike is not a bye, he is on the hill with Danny right now. 8-7.

Hey Linda, Just got off the phone with Harry. He said he played an exhibition match yesterday with Grady. Did you get a chance to see it?

No sweetie, I am in Portland.

Mike won, whew! 9-7. Danny put Mike in the loser's bracket earlier.

Bill Mildenberger has a great centrally-located joint with video lottery tickets, a full restaurant and bar. There are 4 Valley 8 footers and a 9 foot Brunswick for gambling. Tables play fairly fast with big pockets. The help is friendly and he has a dedicated TD, Judy Griffiths and ref, Pat Mowdy.

Here is the lineup:

Top bracket - 1st round

Glenn Atwell/Chuck (CC, local guy)
Justin Lilje/Scotty (dwarf that plays pretty good)
Stan Tourangeau/M. Taylor
Brian Skinner/Russ Pettis
Bill Rosenberry/Eddie Mataya
Linda Carter (another dwarf, lol)/Merle Plummer
Dan Louie/Greg Ely
Mike Zimmerman/Don McMullin

Bottom bracket - 1st round

Rico Sitja/Bob Zack
Gerry Lilje (Justin's dad)/Jeff Jiminez (Mr. J on here)
Zac Masiba/Tony Newman (his son was a pro football player)
Tom Moore/C. Santabanez
Steve Hays/Kenny Dodd
Tom Goulter/Brian James
Jesse Allred (has won here before)/Micah Bell (Belmicah)
Bob O'Hashi/Randy Camantigue (house pro at Uncle Jack's)

Winner top bracket - Stan. Beat CC 7-2, M. Taylor 7-1, Russ Pettis 7-5, Glenn Atwell 7-4 Dan Louie 9-4.

Winner bottom bracket - Zac Masiba - Beat Mike Baker 7-3, Tony Newman 7-4, C. Santabanez 7-5, Bob Zack 7-5, Jesse Allred 9-4.

Still on the B side - Mike and Atwell. All are playing now.

Stan beat Zac 9-2, Glenn beat Mike 9-7. We need to root for Glenn now. Plus, we are giving Stan a ride home.

Glenn beat Zac 9-6. On to the Finals...Stan against Glenn! Winner gets $1200 ($1500 added)

BTW, I won 2 and lost to Eddie Mataya and my husband. But I told him we were splitting! :D

I meant that if you played Mike, that you knew which buttons to push and could win.

Glad to see him doing well. Now I will go to the next post with fingers crossed.

It's now 9-8, Stan, but Glenn has a chance to tie it up, but he got funny on the 4.....he made it and got shape, uh-oh, ugly on the 7...made it, tied 9-9.

It's one race to 11 for all the cheese. Of course, now it's one race to 2!

It is hill-hill and missed an easy 1 on the end rail for an easy 2/9. The 9 isn't sitting in the jaws, but it is up a little on 1 corner, so it's hard to cheese. Glenn just played a good safe.

Stan moved the 9 and took the foul, but it moved back for the combo, but much higher on the rail. The rest of the balls are clumpy, so he has to take it. Shot the 1 and came up short...combo, here goes.....he makes it!!

Glenn wins!

I made the trip down to see Grady and watched the exhibition match. It didn't appear that there was anything bet on the outcome. Both players were "thinking out loud" as they were playing, explaining their stratagies. In the race to three, Grady won 3-2.

I saw Grady's exhibition several years ago and he has added a section where everyone sits around a TV screen looking at photos and Grady tells war stories associated with the people in the photos. It was great.
