I had a rare opportunity to visit with one of the greatest cuemakers of all times: Mr. Tim Scruggs. He's the nicest guy you'd ever want to meet and his cues really need no introduction. We traded some great stories and he even gave me some time on his tabe to play with a few of his personal classics'. I toured his shop and I got a peek at some of his up and coming work. I didn't get to meet Mike Cochran as he was away on vacation but in all in all it was a great day. He even gave me a tip for one of his favorite resturants in Baltimore for the best crab cakes around! The 5 and1/2 hour ride from New York was well worth it as the memories will last. The photographs taken are with permission from Mr. Scruggs and I just wanted to share them with the fellow AZ members. Enjoy!

I'm usually not a huge fan of inlays but the one with blue in it is absolutely beautiful.

That's the lil' monster I was shooting with. It's rosewood with ivory and blue lapis inlays with a lizard wrap! Just awesome! The pictures didn't really show the figuring in the sleeve of the rosewood but in person it's stunning!

Thanks for the post. Tim has long been one of America's finest cuemakers--had the first of several excellent cues made by Tim in 1978 or so. Wish I still had it but used to sell my cues when I went broke back then:eek: Nice to get a peek behind the curtain!

Ralph,

Isn't it a kick when you finally get to meet the man behind the legend? There's nothing more fun then seeing a cue makers shop - sometimes the stuff they have laying around is something else.

I walked into Tim's shop in May!:)

I took my wife with me. We walk in and Timi looks up. We had never met and I really could have had a little fun. "Is there something I can help you with?" I just said "Hay Tim!" His baby blues light up NICK SERDULA!!!
We all had alot of laughs and it was a afternoon well spent.
After we left my wife said "You know we should have brought a camera. What a nice man. I'm glad you brought me. I am happy you were able to meet the old man and Mike after how many years now it seems like a lon long time.." She calls Timi the old man. Has for years.
I have to say Tim you look Marvelous!
And don't stop makin the best!
Thank you guys
Your friend
NIKi :)

Scruggs one of a kind

Very nice! Ivory inlays between the floating points. Just love it!

Tim truely is a unique person. Wished I'd met him a long time ago. I had learned that Lucky was just there day before me and got a few of Tim's fancier ones.

I'll be going back there in the fall to pick up my cue from his shop. I have to keep it under raps till then.
