A week after taking lessons from a pbia master im worse?

You guys are the one defending Master chalk, which is good chalk. I've got a box full of it. I never said Predator CB buildup was excessive or more than Master. I didn't bring up "skid", you did. I haven't had a problem with it likely because I clean my CB. Fran, I'm sure I should know who you are. Alas, I do not. Sorry.
i go months or a year without cleaning the pool balls and i dont have a problem at all .... i think people just hunt reason to blame any thing but themselves.... 95% of the shots you take you wont notice a single thing

@FranCrimi , have you tried Predator chalk? It isn't price prohibitive like so many these days. Five pieces for $9.50 isn't expensive. Sorry for the blasphemy of using a chalk other than Master and not knowing every former pool pro turned instructor. Never been to NYC either but I suspect I'll live.

My instructor pointed out my flaws in my stroke. I tend to pull back and fallow not in a straight line and have a bad elbow drop. My elbow drop has gotten slightly better but my stroke is still awfull. After 15 years of playing with a bad stroke i need to start over or i wont be any better then i am now but its realy hard.

Well I see your point about flaws, my play is inconsistent.

I blame age, injuries, and bumps. Being honest I think will never ever do a large tournament again.

Too many hours, hate night driving. Pool is like many other things when you past point of prime.

Recreation, winning or loosing is no longer a priority.

Lots of old golfers play game only because they love game.

I figured a pbia master instructor would be good. I don't have any local instructors so I had to travel 9 hours to find one. I planned on getting worse but figured after a week of doing drills my long straight in shots might get better. How long do I give it? I know a week isn't much time.
Others have given you advice. I'm interested in the 9 hours of travel. Are you going by donkey? Where do you live?

Maybe I am wrong about teaching, and student absorbing lessons.

Think the only way to build and thing is with solid foundation.

Then only teach a couple of skills at time.

When I learned to shoot rifle in military it was three week course.

Week one snapping in, dry fire, leading to squeeze trigger, sight adjustment, learning three or for shooting positions.

Week two same as week one, but we got to shoot one round at time. Doing everything on week one foundation.

Week three was back over week 1, and 2 stuff, then finally trying to qualify.

Life was hell for those who did not get Marksman.

Yes, I have a piece of Predator chalk in my case and I've used it a few times, but my pre -shot routine involves chalking for nearly every shot. Sometimes I miss chalking if there are two simple shots in a row, but I usually chalk before every shot. I noticed that it does put a heavier layer of chalk on the tip but I never tried to use it for every shot, since that wasn't what it was advertised for. I was sincerely curious about your take on it since you said you used it. Apparently, you didn't like my response to you. I was just trying to find out what other people thought and what their experiences with the chalk are. You instead, took my comments as a personal attack of some sort. I never even mentioned "Master Chalk" to you. Did you confuse my post with someone else's? Anyway, no matter. I'll get info from somewhere reliable.

Hey, I just tried to share my experience which didn't include skids.

Im a 540 fargo rate. Took a 12 hour 2 day class from a pbia master instructor. Changed my center vision, stance slightly and gave me drills to work on my bad stroke. Is it normal to get worse? Do I keep at it? If so will I improve? It's my first time taking lessons so thanks for any info in advance.
You’ll get worse then better. Practice the proper drills. Work on mechanics. Keep at it forever. No magic. A lesson is to teach you what to practice. Good luck and stay with it. Stay positive.
