I am in a horrible predicament, back in Tacoma. circa 1996-1997 or so. On a bar table. I screwed up a runout in 8 ball, even worse, leaving my last ball not near a pocket, but almost in the middle of the top rail. Opponent is running out, then happens to jaw his last ball.

I knew this table extrememly well, and I saw if his last stripe were not there, I would have an easy bank shot for the win. I also saw the cue ball's path as a natural two rail scrath if hit with running english. I decided to combine the two. At this place, you have to call everything.

"I'm gonna bank the 3 ball back into your ball, it's gonna make your ball and stop there, the cue ball is gonna come off two rails and knock it in."

My opponent smirks at his easy win coming up, (I tended to control this table for hours on weekends.) and says "Whatever.", and turns back to his girlfriend, puffing up because he was about to beat the local shark.

The three rolls off a little on the bank, as I had to hit it a bit slower than normal to get the running english to take on the cue ball. Instead of hitting his ball straight in, it cuts it slightly.




Three ends up not directly in front of the pocket, but still blocking the pocket from the scratch..



The cue ball comes and caroms off the three, to the rail, and the three and the cue ball end up almost frozen together, with an impossible shot left for my opponent.

I am extremely proud of this shot. If I had had hit it a little bit better, I would have gotten out in this inning, but as it was, I saved a lost game.

Whatcha think? Any incredible shots you guys have are more than welcome.

I am sorry all, I couldn't quite figure how to get the jpegs to show inside the post. If anyone knows how, let me know. I looked at the post for how to change from WEI to jpeg, but it didn't say anything after uploading the pics.

Great vision to see that shot possibility. If you would've made it they would've renamed the bar after you.

p.s. You can include multiple WEI diagrams in a single link; see Lesson 7 in the new cuetable tutorial.

Hi Russ:

I believe the picture will show if you post them one at a time.

However, you can also post the layouts directly as a link. There is a demo video on CueTable site that show you how to make a 4 page layout and post it on AZ or any other forum. You might want to consider adding the link so others can edit your layout and share opinions. :)

Interesting shot by the way, did the guy fell off the chair? :)

No, he was just really, really p*ssed off that he lost from a position pretty much impossible to lose from!

Awesome shot! Mine is far less interesting, but so be it. It was on a bar table in a swanky club with one table. Warren Moon was hanging out there, and Kevin Costner was also there the week before while filming Tin Cup. There were so many chicks hanging around him I couldn't shoot. Anyway, that's another story I suppose!

OK, so here is the set up: It is 8 ball, and I have to make the 1 ball or I lose since the 8 is in the jaws. The cue ball is hooked so I can't bank the 1 back to the same pocket where cue ball is. So the obvious shot is a kick with some left english. Shot goes in, opponent shouts "O my God!" and the bar lights go on since it was closing time. Anyway, like I said, not a spectacular shot, but I liked it because it was a sure loss if I didn't make it.

Posting Wei Tables

Is it possible to post a Wei Table directly into the text? I see others doing it, but it won't work for me. I understand how to post pics, but when I export the address for a Wei table and try to paste it into the Image feature here, it still posts the link, not the picture itself. It also doesn't work if I try to screen capture the diagram. Are others here turning the Wei table into a picture file on their pc first, and then importing it here?

I did a real nice (lucky) kickshot once that got a few hands clapping with approval.

Iwas playing nine ball and was facing three fouls.The guy had me solidly in jail with balls blocking all rail options and he also had me frozen to an object ball to prevent a jump shot.I was virtually buried in a cluster with no apparent way out.

After studying the shot for a long time my only option was to aim at the horn of the side pocket 3 1/2 feet way and bank the ball backwards to make the hit and get out of the hook.I flailed away in desperation, made the kick and eventually won the game.The cue ball traveled about 6 or 7 feet in distance and two feet downtable backwards to make contact.

Later on my opponent congratulated me and said it was insane that I had even thought of that as a possibility.Like the posters before me, I was virtually done like dinner and miraculiously arose from the dead.

If anyone within the sound of my typing has access to a table they can film, having this shot uploaded to youtube or whatever the site is would be nice.

If anyone wants to film it, it's basically a matter of just finding the right distance from the rail for the three and the right angle for the cue ball on your table. Just hit it with running english and hit the bank the right speed, and with enough takes, you should be able to make this one on film

Now THAT's a shot you can link you friends to to show what kinda stud you are at pool!

(Just make sure you call the shot on film, first.)

Hi Dan:

I hope you meant CueTable, which has a built-in screen capture function. WeiTable is the predecessor of CueTable.

To paste a picture of the table layout, you will have to do a "screen capture" and use a graphic software to save it onto your harddrive first. Please see CueTable HowTo: lesson 8: Imaging and Printing for details

Once you have the picture, you can attach the picture with your post. Check How to add pictures to your post by moccabee for a great step by step tutorial on this matter.

Also, you upload it to AZ's new photo gallery and create a link in your post.

Thanks Wei. Yes, Cuetable is the one I was referring to. I didn't realize with the screen capture that you had to save it to disk before pasting into AZ. It seems like posting the link in the thread instead of the actual picture works, too, and you no longer have to post both the table link and the code.
