Ability to Purchase Cue Butts Only or Stupid Idea?

I was wishing that you could purchase a butt brand new from a dealer instead of A whole cue. I'm very impatient so if I go to purchase something & it's out of stock I unfortunately pick out something I can get right away. Perfect example is the 2 Revo cues I purchased recently. I had to settle for 2 butts I really didn't want because neither were in stock.

Wouldn't it be cool if we could just be able to buy the butt of a cue later on instead of purchasing a whole new cue. I mean I'm pretty sure a company like Predator or any company mass producing several shaft options, doesn't make whole cues to actually sell together like a custom maker would do.

Am I onto something here or is it just a stupid idea?

I actually just ordered a 3rd Revo cue to swap butts & will be putting up for sale a brand new Revo Shaft & a 1 month old butt the same day I take delivery on it. Worst part is it's not even a different design butt, it's just a different color combo. I'm actually considering doing it again for the exact same reason on the other Revo I got to break with. I guess that's because I'm a nutcase though.

I cast my vote for stupid idea - and recommend Ritalin.

.

I have bought two butts without shafts just in the last couple of years. I believe I have bought four total without shafts.

Considering that many makers make shafts and butts that are interchangeable (Schon and Schuler are the first companies I know of that marketed this concept from their early days), I think it's a great idea. But then again, I'm nutz.

Ok by me

If a player wants to buy a butt only and have his favorite shaft fit to it I am all for it.

I think many buy cues and then put a different shaft on them later. So if one already knows the shaft he likes then it is a good idea cost wise.

I have 2 Diveney playing cues and 3 Diveney Lake Salvage shafts that are fitted for either butt. Both butts and shafts hit the same for me with the same tips. I like having a back up.

If one is buying a high end cue as an investment then I would think having an original shaft from the maker is a good idea.

Personally, I like the idea.

Seems so many people today are buying "Shafts Only", why shouldn't one be able to purchase "Butts Only"?
It also might raise the bar in terms of the quality that some cue companies put into their shafts.

I asked one retailer to just sell a Joss butt I had seen on their website since I already had a shaft. They accepted my request so you should give it a try. The company was J&J America. Brian and Judy were very helpful.

I haven't really asked since I buy online most of the time at like 3 or 4 am, but I should wait & call to ask.

I've had no trouble buying butt only cues, just ask. Today, seems half the players use LD shafts, so it only makes good business sense to sell butt only, and why by a shaft you will never use if you are going LD..
