ABP vs. Barry Behrman Poll

Who do you side with?

  • ABP - Players Deserve to Get Paid Right Away!

    Votes: 44 44.9%
  • Barry Behrman - Everyone Get Paid Eventually!

    Votes: 32 32.7%
  • Neither.

    Votes: 22 22.4%

  • Total voters
    98
  • Poll closed .
its hard to pick because a good percentage of the players had no idea their name was on the list... plus for the players that have won the event in the past, they get a free entry anyway... shouldn't barry take out the $500 for the past winners if they do make it to the money?
just my opinion

yeah, azers need a lesson in attempting to conduct a nonbiased pole. 1st lesson is that it would be impossible here on az because the responders would have to be random (which they wont be here).

It sounds to me like the ABP is trying to use muscle like unions do without giving players a pension fund, good wages, etc. Sounds more like gang activity to me. As far as playing in a tournament where the money may be delayed, well that is something each player should decide.

When I started my real estate career thirty five years ago I worked for two companies that were on the brink of bankruptcy. When the employees got their checks we would race to the bank to get them cashed. Of course the owners of these companies were living in big houses and driving fancy cars.

I hear Barry saying he is not living like a rich person, I hear the ABP just wants to get paid. I think there is alot more to this story.

But, I side with barry because I have been to the US open a couple of times and it was a great experience.

And what is wrong with this poll, tell us how it should be conducted.

I voted but how does "Neither" figure into the equation?

I guess that after the PBA tanks pro pool in the USA, then nothing matters anymore.

Its players vs the management... I don't think our opinion matters much. If some players boycott the event, others will play.

One of the problems with the poll is that it includes, "The players deserve to get paid right away." Of course they "deserve" to but in order to make that a reality the prize purse might need to be cut in half. Do they "deserve" half the cash?

I could have started a different poll and gotten different results like:

Should the players boycott the tournament and settle for much less prize money in the future but guaranteed pay at the tourney?

Or

Should they keep supporting decades of proven large payouts that may take longer with less peace of mind but 99% chance of twice as much money?

This poll is leading as well but is probably more realistic.

Another fairer poll would be:

Do you think the ABP is going to benefit overall from boycotting the US Open in the grand scheme of things? Yes or NO?

To bad the real Danny Greene is dead(Kill The Irishman), he was a good negotiator, jonny could have used him.

The 4 or 5 threads concerning this fiasco have some very vocal people in support of Barry, usually the same 3 or 4 people, but I think there's a lot of people who are silently in support of the players and what the players are doing.

I made the poll to see who the people are siding with, with numbers, and to allow people who silently support the players to vote anonymously.

There's so many issues here but ultimately isn't being paid right after the event is over the heart of the matter? Barry will be holding another tournament, the US Open, while he still owes players money for the Masters event.

Actually Jay, no offense, but I agree with enzo. The wording of the "picks" (options, selections) in your poll make it a biased poll -- it's obvious you're on the ABP side. (Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course [you're definitely entitled to an opinion], but for the purposes of polling people, it either a.) skews the data, or b.) causes you to not receive responses from people, because they don't want to participate in a biased poll -- which, back to square one, skews the data. :o )

AZB'ers are definitely in need of some lessons in how to create an unbiased poll, or a poll devoid of sarcastically-/sardonically-/opinionated-worded "options." The recent spate of biased polls is proving this out. (E.g. the "smoking vs. pool" is only the most recent example before this one.)

I'll vote in this poll, but only because I want to give something back to you after sharing my "opinion" about the bias in your poll. :o But to be honest, I'm voting "Neither."

Neither

I can only assume at best that this is a serious situation but without actual post from players that were not paid it is hard to take a side.

The problem would appear to be expectations and promises.

I think we all know Barry has had some problems with paying players as well as other things. But if the expectations were reasonable and they were met, surely both sides could come together and 'kiss and make up'.

Most people at the very least work a week or two before getting paid for what they've done, self employed often much longer. If Tournaments made it clear of the payment policy would that suffice? For instance could the US Open pay everyone by check before leaving and post date those by one week?

Would that be accpetable by both sides?
