ABP, what is it good for?

"The Association of Billiard Professionals is pleased to announce the updated rankings for the ABP. Currently USA's Mike Dechaine of Maine leads the USA men's pro tour."

Did I miss something, what exactly is this "men's pro tour" they are talking about? The dozens of events that were taking place before this ABP was even though of, some of them for 10+ years before that? Is it now "The US Open presented by ABP?, or the "Joss Tour presented by ABP"?

And what events are they using for rankings? Is this organization actually putting up events or just jumping on the existing ones and telling them to give more money or change the rules?

It's starting to sound like an mob association. Thanks for opening up this nice store, now hand over a cut of the money or we shut you down.

ABP points and rankings

As a point of clarification.

The ABP ranking press release had an attachment that showed the past and future events they are using for their ratings.

The 3 past events were: Hopkins player championship, US Open 10 ball and Turning Stone.

I contacted Johnny archer (who was very nice and understood), and told him to remove the US Open 10-ball from their list. Just including our event could lead people to think we have endorsed, sanctioned, or supported the ABP.

We have not recognized the ABP and request they not use our events in their ratings. We support the BCA/WPA point system. (I don't think Turning Stone has recognized ABP either- but that is Mike Zuglan's event and decision).

I just want to set the record straight. I support the players- but I will not be associated with ABP as long as Charlie Williams is running the show.
