Thanks Pat, Pete, Jim from Accu-Stats and Bill Haley from Comet :)

This is exciting...Pat and his team have an amazing set up at Comet and they graciously are doing this to help Comet and the NCS.

AN ANNOUNCEMENT / PRESS RELEASE IS GOING OUT TOMORROW ABOUT THE NCS 8-BALL NATIONAL EVENT in Las Vegas.

NCS 8-Ball Qualifier

I am a little miffed. The National Championship Series will (for the first time) create a true National Champion. I would think this would garner more attention than it is receiving.

There will be 64 players that qualify for the National event ($32,000 w/full field), This will be held Feb. 13-15, 2009 at the Fantastic Golden Nugget in downtown Las Vegas. The rates are real good - come and watch. Bring your sweetheart for a Valentine's Day suprise.

The National winner will go to the WPA Worlds 8-ball - a $200,000 event held in U.A.E. So you can win a local tournament and become a world's champion. Never possible before.

The US can only send 5 people and one comes from the NCS qualifiers. There are going to be a lot of 'PRO' players that are missing the boat.

We are just not sure how to make everyone aware of this procedure. There have been ads, press releases and more. No membership - open to men & women - amatuer and pro.

This is an opportunity to start something real good for the American players and we need all the SUPPORT we can get. So tell a friend all about the NCS events. This type of event is good for the pool rooms - and is played on 9' tables.

BUMP FOR AWARENESS!!
I would love to get out and play in a few of these tournaments. They are just outside of my driving distance, working 5 days a week and family and all. I can talk with my local room owner and see if we can do something there!! nice Hall too.. what are the requirements to hold a qualifier? # of tables... 7 footers, 8 footers , 9 footers?

You can get all the info from Holly at 702-719-7665 or go to www.playcsipool.com.

These are 9' tables - Pool Room should have enough to have 16-32 players- so maybe 6 tables if you are creative.

The races can be whatever length the room owner decides. This is a chance for the room to get some national coverage. The National Championship will be on TAR so there will be a lot of coverage - this is about making pool grow.

There are no membership fees or any other requirements. Only that you can get a US passport so you can go to represent the US in the WPA world's event.

This is a big undertaking. This is a similar model used in a lot of countries to determine who represents them at the World events. The US has always done it differently.

This is a GREAT opportunity for the players.

Hi Snookered,

The NCS qualifiers are on 9' tables. We are hoping to promote more 9' table play as well as this is the size that the WPA World 8-Ball Championship is played. What part of the country do you live? We would ideally love to have at least one qualifier in all if not most states.

We are starting to schedule also for the 9 and 10 ball qualifiers. I have some already in my calendar but not publicized yet.

Thanks for your support -

Holly

Hi Dave,

My position with CSI is to promote the NCS, the qualifiers and anything associated with the NCS or events with CSI. I am very excited that Pat and Bill are involved as they are both tremendously classy gentlemen who work very hard. I have worked with Pat and Accu-Stats in the past in another position within the industry which I was involved for over two years. I have respect for him and his team. I really do not understand your question or the why of it honestly.

Accu-Stats will have it soon on their website also announcing the free streaming of the qualifier. www.Accu-Stats.com

Hi Dolphins1972,

:) Wish you all the best and look forward to seeing you on that TV table. Have a great weekend.

Wish I lived near there - I'd go with Worldison2 and hang out with him and watch the action!

You don't want to live near here today. Just dug out from a blizzard and expecting another one Sunday. (Just in time for the Giants-Carolina game).

Pat Fleming and Accu-Stats have always been a leader in presenting matches to the pool world, mostly through tapes and DVD's.

It is only recently that he has begun delving into streaming to the internet (he has done pay-per-view and free-streamed). Along with this new endeavor he has also become aware of this forum, and the value of the word-of-mouth it provides.
Pat wants to hear any constructive ideas that will help make his product even better.

Anyhow, Trigger, I'll be there on the 3rd and give you a wave from the cheap seats!

I'm planning on playing. I love the fact that I get to go to a tournament that isn't 9-ball for a change and I've always liked Comet. As a long time customer of Accu-Stats (and a one time commentator) I would love to be on the feature table. I believe Jude R. is going to the tournament as well.

I didn't know about the tournament when it was scheduled for AC but now that it has been moved it seems to be getting some attention. Let's hope there's a decent turnout.

It's unfortunate that things aren't going as well with the NCS. The pool world moves about as slow as the world did before TV, radio, and internet came around. The problem that exists is that many players do not have internet access, much less their own cars, homes, or even their own money. Most have no clue as to how to turn a computer on. At this time you are at the mercy of trying to get interest thru this site or hopefully from the room owners who are holding the qualifiers. Word of mouth doesn't go far as most players that know about your events probably want to keep the competition to a minimum.

It's a shame that pool is not a unified organization. It's made up of a conglomerate of tours, tourneys, leagues, and so many independent events. And each of those pieces choose not to advertise for their competitors.
It would be great if you could reach out by using existing tours to advertise your NCS events, but then that would be in conflict of interest. I would say a majority of your players at the qualifiers are locals playing in their home room.

I believe after you have your first event in February things will take off nicely. After a number of the top pros miss the boat with this first event and see the prize money they will be paying alot more attention to your future events.

I applaud you in your efforts to create national champions and hope to see things take off. I would also like to see all pool and billiard organizations work together towards a common goal and support our sport instead of treating it as separate business entities. Until this happens I don't think that pool will ever see the success that golf has. Keep plugging away and good luck with the NCS.

Yes, assuming nothing dramatic happens between now and then, I will be there.

man i wish i could play in this quilifier. i only live about 45 to an hour away in south jersey. problem is im going to Florida for vacation. you woulda got three extra players in this quilifier with my dad, me, and my uncle, maybe even my cuzin. but im sure that the field will be full with all the players from new york

I am encouraged to hear all the interest for the Comet Billiards NCS qualifier. If there are a LOT of players, maybe Comet could schedule another qualifier.

Remember, only 5 US players are going to the World 8-ball. One is the NCS National winner. There will only be 64 players at the National.

The total prize fund will be $32,000. The winner will get $$$ and full paid trip to Worlds event.

The Worlds has a $200,000 prize fund. So for about $60, someone is going to play in a $32,000 event and a $200,000 event.

This is the first time anything like this has ever been presented. So I hope ALL players will play at Comet on January 3-4, 2009.

Also, don't forget, Pat Fleming (Accu-stats) will be doing free feed of the event.

For info. contact Holly Ryan at 702-719-7665 or holly@playcsipool.com.
