Action Near Obsolete

assuming your playing these lesser skilled people "even", knowing your basically "stealing" the game as your the automatic favorite and basically just cashing in on them seems very "nitty" imo...its one thing to set up games and get action but to basically "prey" on lesser skilled.players to cash in isnt right....from what im seeing it seems more to be a locked up donation rather than a gamble

And for the record, you have a line up a mile long of people on AZBilliards that have offered you more action then you could stand, and I am positive AZB streamers would LOVE to stream the matches as many on AZB would watch the matches with the rabid curiosity of watching an oncoming train wreck and being unable to look away from the upcoming carnage about to unfold.

Give it a rest, if you are 1-2 levels above them you are not "gambling" in the first place, you are getting a donation. Go find someone who actually plays you level, strap on a set and go do some actual gambling.

Shouldn`t you be working?
Who in their right f****g mind plans their income from gambling!
You need to understand that a job gives you a fixed income, wich in turn means predictability, so you actually can make plans based on your economic situation.
That might sound boring, but that is how responsible adults live their life.
As for the gambling aspect: SEEK HELP!
 
Hello..........Im here and i can help with your money situation!!!!!! There are at least two people on here that can vouch for me not being able go beat the 6-ball ghost. It beat me last night 10-0. Im a certified banger!!!!!

I'd do the same thing if someone I knew could not win but kept being an idiot and trying.
 
All life choices you made have led you to the place that you are at. Not sure you are going to get much sympathy on her.

99.9% of us are hard workers on this board I'd assume. The fact that you are not able to rob certain players any longer certainly does not bring a tear to my eye. YMMV.

I'll stick with my day job and enjoy the game the honest way. That's my choice. Our choices make or break us. Sounds like your choice keeps you broke most of the time. Just an observation.

Just curious did a match ever get set up from the last thread you started here? Do you still work for the pool hall you were a few weeks ago?

Looks like it's time to match up with people your level or above or find a new shooting gallery.

Knockers abound but honestly who wouldn't warn their friends to stop playing if the other person is much better and it's not gambling.

I'd like to play better players all day long but I can't afford to donate all day long. Sometimes my friends will advise me if I am in a bad game. Sometimes I play anyway just to test myself.

I guess the bottom line is that when you play pool for money you don't have any right or guarantee of a steady income. Especially if you make yourself a public figure. At this point you have pretty much given up all right to anonymity and being able to be just one of the players. People know you they know what you want to do and they are not going to match up loosely with you or let their friends donate.

I was told that an 8 speed (B low A) player can make decent money matching up if they know how to match up right. That's probably true but not if they make themselves a public figure. They have to be relatively low key and match up wisely.

I don't think you will get much sympathy on this subject. If you know you are better than your opponents and should win the majority of the time if not all the time then you are not gambling. Yes, you are making money but it's because the other player has no chance and you know in pool we call that stealing. And yes the other player is trying to win so they are culpable as well. But at the end of the day no honeypot lasts forever so be glad of the times you played and won and realize that this one is done with.

And another answer to your question is that other players would like to get the money as well. So if they tell a player he is not able to beat you it could be because he would like to get that player into action themselves or with someone they have in mind. That's the competitive side of players vying for the same resources (suckers).

Too bad we don't live closer to each other. We could play some barbox 9-ball that would only cost us a couple of bucks per hour :D

(unless of course we play the "if it rattles in the pocket, it's good" rule)
 
Last week while in Cincinnati I went to Michaels to play. A guy on the next table asked, "Want to play 9 ball for $5/game?" I said, "I might in a little bit."

After watching him play, I decided not to play against him. I'm not too bad (APA 5 in 8 ball, and 7 in 9 ball). Plus, I have an 8' table at home, and I like to play on 9' tables when I travel, so I can practice.

Well a bit later, another guy asks me if I want to play 9 ball for $2/game. I said ok. I went up 4 games, and he then starts to play. We get to even, and when I tell him I'm about to end the night because of table rent, we play a race to 3 for $10. Guess what, I lose. I had an out on the 9, but rattled the pocket on my shot!

My advice would be to play for lesser money per game, and then play for a larger amount later on. (I'm sure you know this!)

I like to play against others to help me with my "nerves" during a match I really want to win, and the "stakes" are higher for me.

Good luck on finding someone to play against you. And keep playing tournaments for some more cash.

I'd also take the offers from those on this forum that are willing to play you.

The rattle rule would be good. We also play the rule that you don't have to shoot the ball right off of the rail. You get to put the cue ball about two inches off the rail before you shoot.

What a sad state of affairs to be in?

Ok...Since you can't put 2+2 together I'm going to help you.

1. You went on the road with Gene to become a pool player. Left your car and all your responsibilities behind to pursue your dream. Although a crazy decision it was admirable by some of us who wished we could do the same. But we don't and are happy with the security we have in our lives.

2. Gene taught you a great deal about pool and life on the road. You were a hard head and didn't listen to everything Gene told you to do to be able to sustain that life. He has Perfect Aim to pay the room rent, food, and gas to get him to the next town. You don't have anything to offer but more of a child to Gene to raise, mentor and support. Your eventual parting of ways was inevitable.

3. You hitch hike around the country with various people you meet at one tourney or another. Barely getting by with a pool game that has undoubtedly plateaued or at the very least is going through a learning stage again. Life sucks and you have been taken advantage of by "friends" who scam you of what money you do have At one point, keep part of your belongings even. Life's hard lessons are beginning to take a toll on you, your life, your finances, etc. Yet you still continue down the same road.

4. You eventually heed some advice freely given on the forum of how to better care for yourself overall and get a job at a pool room. Best of both worlds to play pool at work, make money, see the action and be involved in some as well. Upside for you is now you have finally learned to clock people's speed watching them everyday. Downside, is now you have beat up on those who are under your ability and now they have clocked you. I guess you thought enough people would stop in each week so that you could make an unfair game with them and live happily ever after. NOT!!!

5. Now, you're back on the forum posting action has dried up. Well, it was bound to happen that unless you're game comes up and you can match up with those who play better than you the less skilled players would go away. The pool of players is much larger when you're game is much better.

6. Now What? You've basically been on the road long enough and exposed to enough pool that it's time to adjust you're life goals. Face it, you've no talent for pool! You'll never be great at this game. It's time to get a job and make a life. Pool will always be there. You can play league and gamble it up with them if ya want. But to keep thinking you're going to live off of what pool can provide?? You must be nucking futs...

7. Lastly, we all love this game with every fiber of our being. And many wish we could all make a living from it. But this forum is also (for the most part) made up of individuals who are realistic and recognizing this game for what it is and what it isn't. You haven't learned the last part.
