BJ Ussery & Sparky Ferrell will be playing tonight here @ Shooters in Greensboro, NC. The match is going to start at 7:00 or 8:00pm (sorry for the short notice but we just got things set up).

Looks like it's going to be 2 7-ahead sets (10 ball) for some beans.

If you're in the area and sick of hanging out with your family swing on by. Note that we also have the NC State Foosball Championships here this week so the parking lot is a little packed.

I'll do the best I can to keep everyone updated while the matches are going on.

They're racking the first game now. They've settled on one 10 ahead set of 9ball for the cash. Rack your own.
 
oh, and it seems that the 9 doesn't count on the break.

BJ won the coin toss and broke, made a few balls and had to push out. Sparky took the shot and is running out. He just pocketed the 9 to win the first game.

Now he's breaking and made the 9 on the snap. Since it doesn't count it's just spotted. 8 balls left w/ an easy spread. He'll likely run out. Oops, he dogged the 2 ball. BJ is @ the table now.

He's gotten out of line but he's still @ the table, shooting at the 4. He banked it to get shape on the 5. 6 in the side, 8 in the corner, and Sparky gave it to him. Score is even.
 
BJ broke in the 3rd game, made 2 balls and almost scratched in the corner. The cue ball is right in the jaws. looks like he can cut the one all the way down. Well, it looked like maybe he tried to play it in the side but he missed. Hard to see if he got safe or not... yeah, Sparky tried to cut the one backwards into the corner and missed. Left it tough for BJ. BJ tried to play safe but left the one sitting right in front of the side pocket. Going to be a long rack.
 
Sparky tried to bank it cross corner and missed. Left BJ almost straight in, and he made it. Now BJ is on the two and played safe.

Sparky jumped to hit the two and left BJ safe behind the 7. The two is on the other end of the table. WOW, BJ kicked to play it and almost did. Unfortunately the two stopped in the jaws and the cue isn't safe.

Sparky made the two and is good, but long, on the three. He made it and is great on the 4. Comes around 3 rails for long shape on the five. Drills the 5, makes the 7 and BJ gives him the rack. Sparky up 1.
 
So Sparky is still up 1 game (I guess this is game 4 still). Sparky had BJ on 2 fouls but decided to run out and he missed the 8 but it ended up real tough and BJ just barely missed it. So Sparky won the game anyways. Now he's up 2.
 
BJ has gotten it back even but he just made a bad hit on the 5 (5,7,8,9 remain) -- no rail. Sparky has BIH and will probably get out. Well, Sparky just missed BIH (the 5 was tied to the 9 so it wasn't easy). Now BJ has BIH, he makes the 5, and with 7,8,9 remaining Sparky gives him the game.

BJ up by 1 for the first time. Going to be a long set. Oh yeah, there's a 10 hour time limit too.
 
BJ up by 2 now. Just missed the 1 ball and left Sparky straight in.

Sparky missed a 3 - 7 combination and left BJ really tough. I think BJ tried to cross bank the 3 to the corner but missed it good. Sparky doesn't have an out, but he'll likely play safe.

BJ was up by 4 at one point but Sparky has brought it back even. This is going to take a long time.

Laptop battery is going dead. Gotta recharge.
 
Really close, actually. At around 4:00am they called it quits for the night, w/ Sparky being up 1 game. Throughout the night BJ was up 5, Sparky was up 5, and they spent a lot of time going back-n-forth around the zero dot.

I think they're going to finish sometime Saturday evening. Not sure yet if they're going to play the same game or try to change it such that somebody will actually win, rather than being even after 10 hours.

Anyways, when things pick up again I'll keep this thread updated.
 
Didn't know someone was posting. Saw bunch laptops but didn't know it was going on here. They played 9hrs. Long time we got out there after 5. Who's posting from shooters??
Saw someone taking pictures. Did you get any action shots while they played?
 
Sorry for the delayed response. No, they're going to play Sunday (which is now "today", I suppose -- been up all night) at 2:00pm. Not sure yet what the game will be. Maybe a long 9-ball race or a 10 ball ahead set. Anyways, if you're bored, swing on by at 2:00pm.

Cheese?

How much was the cheese worth last night, and let us know what is today, if they play again. Thanks for the updates.
 
Just heard from Sparky's backer -- they'll be here at 5:00pm. Something about traffic.

As far as the "cheese" is concerned, all I'll says is that it's just enough to make the match exciting. And since nobody actually won Friday night, the same "cheese" is in play.

OKay, finally! They've started. The game is now two 7-ahead sets. One 9 ball and one 10 ball. They flipped for which is first and 10-ball won. BJ won the break and they're playing the first game now. I'll keep y'all updated as it gets interesting.
 
BJ is up two games right now -- still in the 10-ball set and Sparky is currently shooting at the 5 ball in the 3rd game.

The bet is $1500/set.
