Action @ Shooters, GSO NC: BJ Ussery v/s Sparky Ferrell

A little bit of back-n-forth and BJ is now up three games. He s in top form tonight. Sparky seems to be shooting good as well but he's made a few mistakes early.

He's at the table now shooting at the 5 which BJ left really long.

Thanks for the updates!! This should be a really good match. Do they have a time frame for these matches?

BJ is now up 5 and getting ready to break. Lots of great safes on his part is keeping Sparky at bay.

RE: Timeframes, yeah, they're going to stop at 4:00am and then pick up on Tuesday if things aren't settled tonight.

BJ just broke dry and Sparky played safe on the one. Looks like BJ is measuring to kick it and play it. Oh, pulling out the jump stick. BJ jumped 3 balls to hit AND PLAY the one. Unfortunately he's stuck behind the 9 and can't see the two. Wow, BJ tried to kick-bank the two into the corner and damn near made it. It rolled up onto the two on the top rail and Sparky is studying it now.
 
BJ is now on the hill and just broke. He made a ball and has a shot on the one. If he gets out (or keeps control here) he'll have won the first set in about 1.5 hours. Thus far, Sparky has only won 1 game very early on.

BJ just won the 10-ball set.

Sparky won the coin toss for the first break in the 9-ball set.
 
Sparky won the first two 9-ball games and BJ is shooting in the 3rd game. He just made the 3 and safe'd himself on the 4. He hit it but left Sparky straight into the side. Sparky will likely get out.
 
Yeah, so in a few short minutes Sparky is now up 5 and about to run out to be on the hill. BJ hasn't won a game yet in the 9-ball set. He had an opportunity to take control in the middle but rattled a ball.

Sparky just needs to make a straight in 8 w/ easy position to the 9 to go on the hill. Which, of course, he did.
 
Looks like I was off on the game count by one. Oops. Sparky just won the next game w/ a great 7-9 carom to take him to the hill. He just broke what could be the set winning game, made the one and doesn't have a shot on the two... he pushed out and BJ is taking it.

BJ tried to play safe but left an open shot. Sparky made the two and spun around two rails to get perfect shape on the three in the corner.

Sorry -- bar drama. I had my back turned and Sparky finished it off.

They're running the same games again. Still even and they've started over playing 10-ball. We're gunna be here awhile.

I feel like I'm talking to myself here. BJ was up 3 in the (second) 10-ball set but Sparky just won the 4th game to make BJ up 2.

Sparky broke dry and BJ has a good shot on the one. No clusters in the rack. I'd like to think that he'll get out here.
 
They're still playing the 2nd 10-ball set. BJ is up 1 game. He was up three and Sparky has come back.

haha, sorry, I got into a silly scotch doubles game while they were grinding it out.

At one point Sparky was up 5 (going to 7) and after a lot of back-n-forth around 3-5 to Sparky BJ got it back even.

Literally, while typing this message BJ just got to 5. So right now BJ has stolen control. They're going to play until 4:00am so we'll see what happens.

As far as the "cheese" is concerned, all I'll says is that it's just enough to make the match exciting. And since nobody actually won Friday night, the same "cheese" is in play.
