Adam snooker cue?

Does anyone know information of the old Adam snooker cues?

I believe they were custom made in North America and not mass produced.

I've looked on the web and there is nothing available.
They were center joint ash with a white joint collar.
There was no joint pin, but rather the shaft itself was just threaded to a very coarse male thread.

All info would be greatly appreciated.

The only Adam cues I've ever heard of are those made in Japan. As there is plenty of info on the company on the web i presume it's not one of them.

Could it be a cue made by a guy named Adam where his surname has worn off the cue?

I remember the Adam snooker cue, I bought one in the 80's (I think) it was indeed as you describe, 2 piece, North American Maple with white collar and had the White Adam Lion on the butt. I bought mine from a supplier in Brighton, East Sussex, I don't remember the name of them. The cue I believe was made somewhere in North Amercia and if I remember righly it was endorsed by Cliff Thorburn. I believe both Cliff and Dennis Taylor used them at one time.

The Lion motif is that of Adams cues of Japan so if made elsewhere I imagine it was done so under licence.

Thanx to all for the info.

I believe "Wity" is correct. From what I have found out these cues were made in Japan in the mid 70's and on and brought in by the Adam/Helmstetter cue company in the U.S.

I heard Dennis Taylor mention that he got a two piece cue on a trip to Canada in the 70s.

Hi, first post.

It's quite a while since you made the OP but I wonder if it helps you to tell you I have one, an Adam cue, that is.

I don't have any idea what I can do for you but if it helps....

I think I actually have one of these. I'll try to remember to look in storage at home. Do you have any specific questions I could answer by looking at it?

Welcome

Welcome.

These snooker guys are a fine lot. They don't fight about CTE. It seems that through excellent fundamentals and technique that they just keep making balls on big tables in small pockets. I don't get it.

Go figure.

Take care

I guess I didn't mention that although I'm new to this forum, I've been playing snooker for a long time, in case that matters.

Oh, hey. What's CTE?

Disregard that. I just read some of an article on the Az home page. The so-called inventor sounds like a moron. I've seen people try to make use of stupid crap like that and it is only of the slightest help to the beginner and has the drawback that it will most likely hinder that player's progress. You learn where to aim by practice practice practice. There's no short-cut. ROFL Ronnie O'Sullivan didn't make a maximum in less than 6 minutes using some retarded aiming system.
