I have a Adams Stardust cue in for some touchups, and the bumper is gone. The weightbolt is not like most adams ones and is not threaded to hold a bumper. There is only .187" of space so I don't think a push in stem type will work. Anyone know what was original? The owner would like to have the original type of bumper. Everything I have seen from google searches have shown them with no bumper.
Any help appreciated.

Unless you can confirm scratches, chips and other clues on the bottom face of the butt-cap
that would indicate that this cue has spent it's life without a bumper, I'd assume it had one.
Apparently the owner lost the orig. and wants you to replace it.
Clue : it's similar to a Mali 'stub' bumper. Second clue : the wght-blt is likely orig.
The orig. bumper is concave on the bottom-side to accommodate the crown of the bolt.

I have a bumper in the shop from a cue I'm refinishing that is the correct style to this cue.
It's .700" +/- in dia and approx. the same in length. Concave on the bottom, semi-flat top.
Looks like a cylindrical hard-rubber plug. Shouldn't be TOO difficult to duplicate.

Ah....Dale, I wouldn't be too quick to assume that these cues were intended to be bumper-less.
Having found a second example is not conclusive. These bumpers FALL out whenever they feel like it.
Quickly lost and just as quickly forgotten. Good effort on the 'search' though.
 
I believe the earliest ones were bumperless but that dealers and owners often added bumpers that were available from Adam. I think it isn't unlikely the cue was originally bumperless. I think to know for sure we need to date the cue. What pin does it have?

I have below an example of one that was originally bumperless but has an added Adam bumper that was available in the Adam catalog.

Adam later had two push in bumpers. The one that is shown on my cue below, and a mushroom style that came later. they are not interchangeable as the diameters are different.

IMHO best Adam expert is Jayman. He may say more or correct me.

Thanks for the help guys. Dale, I found that same picture also, that made me think maybe bumperless also. The customer bought it off ebay this way, so she has no idea if it had one originally. The bottom is very clean, no rubber residue inside the hole either. If anyone has one available, let me know.
The joint pin is a brass 5/16x18 with a brass collar.
