Adapting to CF shaft

I recently switched to a new Pechaeur cue with a Rogue shaft. I like the way it plays, it is very solid, deflection seems a little better than my Samsara LD TrueShaft, but I can’t get used to the sound it makes when I pull with it, etc.

I know it’s odd, but it sounds like plastic and I miss the real wood feel!
Anyone else experience this?

Don't worry, once you get used to the CF shaft, hitting with a wooden shaft will sound like someone is beating a Tahitian drum. My advice is go with the softest tip you can which will help with the sound.

My Becue sounds and feels like wood, but better.

I'm using Ultra-skin black soft tips on my Becue shafts, except for the one I got from you with the Becue tip.

What tips are you using?

The original one on the white shaft was Ultra Skin, but the new one came with their own Becue tip and I like it better. It's medium soft, makes a great sound, and has held it's shape quite well. They do things well. I'm very pleased with it. My carbon fiber is definitely quieter than a wood shaft with less vibration. I played with a Cuetech with a firm tip and it was pretty harsh.

...except that the Rogue is 180 degrees different than the REVO in hit and sound. Your advice is perfect for the REVO, but the Rogue almost makes no sound when you hit the ball, totally opposite from the REVO, so a soft tip would exacerbate what the OP is complaining about.

OP, if you like the feel, you will soon learn to like the sound too.

The Becue, which I play with, is also very solid and quiet. That's the way I like them. I think you're right, we adapt to something and that becomes the new standard. I found carbon fiber odd at first, now that I've played them for a few years, I find the feel and sound of wood odd.
