Hello,

Is it possible to inlay four v-points into a finished 4 point forearm to create an 8 pointer, without losing too much diameter in the forearm?

The very best advice on this would be to sell your cue and have an 8 pointer made. There is so much work invlolved in trying to change it this late in the game that you'd be financially raped getting it modified.

Another consideration is that in a high/low point configuration, the low points are typically done first, making the high points sit on top of them. If you're planning to add the low points now, after the cue is made, they will sit "on top" of the high points, creating an a-typical appearance. It can be done, but this is something to think about.

Yes, I know it's possible as it's been done successfully for me. But it does yield an atypical look, as Mr H. describes.

If the 4 existing points are Ebony or another very dark wood it will look fine. If they are lighter in color or especially if they have veneers I think it will not look very good. But yes it can be done and if the cue is really straight you should not lose very much diameter.

Chris is right but you must realize also the the joints on the shafts will be changed also and they have to be redone.

It will be very expensive.

Paul's advice to sell and get a new cue is the best advice IMHO.

Reworking is always more expensive per man hour than build from scratch.
