Advertised cues that are still for sale after a year or so

I have been a member of AZB for nearly a year. I have seen cues here that have been advertised since the day I started til now. In example...a $1k cue that was advertised a year ago and still available the same price a year later. Isn't it time to lower it and maybe have someone else enjoy it? IDK what the logic on that is but maybe someone can enlighten or school me on this one.

This simple truth is that the cue is not really for sale.
 
New members join every week and all it takes in the one person to see
that cue thats been posted for that year and say '' hell that's the cue I've been
looking for''.

Or you can post a realistic price for the cue in the first place and the cue may have sold on the first day.

It takes a willing buyer and a willing seller, until you have that there is no sale. Now you can set a price so low that someone will buy it just because it is a great deal. If you are not in a hurry though you set a fair price and the right buyer will sometime show up.

I once sold a piece of property in 2 days for top price. It was just by chance the right buyer came along so quickly. I could have easily had it on the market for a year without a bite.

I recently bought a gun and didn't argue the price at all. There were other possible buyers and I had no make a move or maybe miss out. As it turns out I may have paid a little too much but who cares. I wanted it so I could care less if I paid too much.

And that is the beauty of the free market my man. You are absolutely correct. You can even be one of those wicked cagey guys that do a five paragraph write up with all the weights and measurements but don't list a price. Just lookin' for offers.

Your right, free market. Ebay now has a new feature where you can make an offer on fix price items. I just made a buy last night. I made an offer well below the asking price figuring for a counter offer about halfway between my offer and the asking price that I would agree to. In about one minute the guy accepts my offer. that is how buying and selling is.

I would immediately start panicking that it's a fake product or that i was gonna be ripped off.
 
My mom used to say about people who brought stuff to the flea market with prices that were too high that those folks just wanted to show and tell not show and sell.
 
Those people that want way too much for their stuff suck. They just want to show off what they got. Maybe someone will come along and buy it for what they want, maybe not. I think that greed gets involved and people think its worth more that what it is, even if it is just a polished turd.
 
People can ask whatever they want for their stuff. If its a fair price it will sell. If its not it wont. But NOBODY has a right to ***** about it or dictate what somebody can ask for anything. Its not yours to sell, if you dont like the price dont buy it. Simple.
And as far as those types of bumps go, thats a small drop in the bucket compared to the abuse of the rules in the for sale forum. Friends continually bumping threads, multiple items in seperate threads from the same seller etc. there are 5-6 pages of new listings and or bumps every 24 hours, and without doing the math to give an actual percentage, an estimation of the bumps are 75%+ non buyer friend type bumps. That is what clogs the forum, not somebody bumping stuff priced above market value IMHO.

In the pool hall all it's common for a guy to hang on to a cue for years until he gets his price.
When I decide to sell something I want to make a quick deal, but for somebody else,
their cue might be one of their few assets.
I know guys that will take the cue with them every day for the rest of their life until they
get their price.

Cues in some sale threads really aren't for sale, they're part of a "collection."
If someone wants to pay a ridiculous inflated price then sure it's for sale.
For me three months is about it.
After numerous bumps and a couple of price drops, I prefer to let the thread die, and
relist it with better pics and a lower price...or a higher price

I like when they bump the thread every 48 hours for 6 pages. Just price drop.

Best way to sell here is think of your bottom acceptable sale price and add 30 percent to start. Then drop price every few days until you get it sold or hit your bottom price. When you get to you bottom and it doesn't sell move on because there are no buyers here.
 
I had a cue for sale, for over a year. Tons of people looked at it, but no one took a bite. I ended up taking some quality pictures with my DSLR and raised the price, when I relisted it. It sold within hours.

Presentation is everything. If you're a good enough salesman, you can sell someone the shoes on their feet.

It was a book so I don't have that problem. I know what you mean though if the price is too low there may be a reason. I bought a fake knife that I knew was a fake. I have a real one and it cost me $150.00

This one was $15.00 shipped from China. I wanted to see one of these so bought one. It is amazing, without a real one to compare it to side by side you, would be fooled. Of course the screws will probably strip out and the steel is not what it is marked but a real good fake.

You have to be careful. This was on ebay by the way. I reported them but they are still on there. Then you have this, I recently got a drill bit on ebay shipped from China and it is very good.

In fact, next to one I paid 3 x as much for from MSC that is also made in China it is just as good and actually looks like the same bit. I think it is.

Value can depend on the venue. If you have something at a garage sale you can't get sh!t, but the same item sitting in a thrift store will sell for an average price. Take the same item to a nice antique shop and it sells for top dollar.

These are the same buyers but what they will pay changes depending who they are buying from. Used furniture is crazy. You can have a $1000 couch at a garage sale and you can't get $50. but in a used furniture store they will get $400.00 for the same couch.

There is a certain buyers mentality you have to find a way around to make a sale. I think the buyers mentality on this forum when it comes to cues is, they don't need it, cues are a dime a dozen as evidenced by just looking it the selling forum.

They will only buy if the cue is a steal otherwise they just look at the next cue. I know people resent paying ebay a commission that with paypal comes to around 13%. But you have a better chance of selling for a better price and not having to wait 6 month to do so.
