I couldn't help "overhearing" the discussion on the main forum regarding the Fisher-Hofstatter match. It is shameful that people feel compelled to criticize in such an impolite and vulgar fashion. This is just a note to reinforce the notion that no one should ascribe any importance whatsoever to the ramblings of anonymous internet posters (like me, I guess
). There are many people whose lives are not complete without tearing down other people - these types of critics should be IGNORED (or perhaps pitied). The bulk of the serious pool fanatics must surely appreciate the contributions of the pro's - that's why we spend the time here. Thanks for your participation. Here is the complete quote from Teddy Roosevelt that DEFINITELY applies to these anonymous critics:

P.S. - a great coach of mine once said that the only way you are truly defeated is if you fail to learn something from it. He also said you have to love winning, but you can't ever let losing get you down (for more than 5 minutes anyway) - it's a great philosophy to get a person through the sporting life.
P.P.S. -I'm really not offended by ANY type of language (my father and his friends cussed like drunken sailors at all times - no matter how inappropriate). It's a free country, people have the right to say what they want - but fortunately I have the right to think of them what I want. I mention all this only for selfish reasons - I don't want the pro's to get offended and leave the forum. In what other sport can we really discuss things with players at the top of their game? I think I'll try e-mailing Shaquille O'Neal and get his thoughts on free throw shooting (or perhaps quantum physics; at which I am sure he is equally adept). See, the criticizing has started already.
