This Monday I'm supposed to transport a 9' Diamond Smart Table about 700 miles.

Any advice or known do's or don't's???

The plan is to transport it strapped down on a flat bed trailer. Once it arrives, I'm figuring on needing 8 guys (or 8 silver back gorillas!!!) to get it off the trailer and inside... Any issues with turning it on its side to get it in the doorway?

Get a cart.

If that is not possible, take it apart and get the slate out and move in pieces. You will damage the equipment or your help if you try to move one of those 9 footers all together with no cart.

Are you saying I will damage the table...or that I run a high risk of it if something goes wrong?

Run a high risk.

Zach,

The "plan" is to have it loaded with a forklift onto the flatbed...my biggest concern is transporting it with the one-piece slate in the table...taking it apart isn't a viable option at this point. Is there any posibility of damaging the "leveling components" within the table (which I don't know squat about yet...) if it's transported this way?

Jason

p.s. Thanks for the input...

loading the unloading the flatbed with a forklift will probably work. I wouldn't recommend lifting and carrying the table by the rails, that's 1100 lbs table. Once you get it off the flatbed you should move it in the house like Zach suggested.

You won't damage the leveling system transporting it that way. It is the moving the table after you get it off the flat bed that will the the scarey part. Is there an entrance where the table can stay flat and enter the building, or does it have to go through a door on its side?

Unfortunately, it will have to be tipped onto its side. It will be going through a sliding glass door...and there's a shed blocking a "direct" shot into the doors.

Turning the table on it's side to get it through the doorway is not an option, you WILL bust the rail skirts off....take take it apart first.
