Superior Cues--Unchalked!

I bought a few cues that needed work recently. One of them is a nice Schon Limted. I wet sanded and tried to repolish the cue with 3M Finesse-It with no luck. I thought the finish was UV but have been told it is an epoxy finish. I'd like to polish the cue, rewrap and be done with it if there is a compound that will give a good luster. Otherwise, I'll go the automotive clear coat route. Anyone been down this road? Thanks in advance, Martin

Epoxy should shine up pretty easy, even with Fineese it.i always thought the Schons were UV finish too.you could try getting a compound with more cut in it and then follow with the Fineese it,or just sand it rough and shoot it.

I use to think so too, but Mr. Clarke told me epoxy.

You might want to try Joe's system 5 from Cue Componants. It does a great job on both epoxy and super glue. It seems to work better than 3m for this type of finish.

Thanks guys. I tried the Meguiars 83 as suggested by Eddie Wheat for UV finishes...and it worked beautifully! (Much obliged Eddie:smile: ) I still don't know whether the finish is epoxy or UV but the cue now has an acceptable shine for the eventual new owner.
