After you win a game a pool...

My favorite expression after leaving myself hooked right after pocketing a really difficult shot is……OK, now what
My favorite thought is, "just kick it in and run out."
That brings a favorite memory....
It was after work at the tavern with my workmates. I had bragged and was showing my skill. While playing our superintendent for the next round of drinks, I broke and ran to the 8 ball and accidentally hooked myself. The crew was giggles and telling Randy, "Well at least you will get a shot." NOPE, I kicked it in for the win. 🤷‍♂️ Well I had to or lose credibility with my work crew. 🤷‍♂️

Exactly. I think it's getting so cheesy to watch a pro player jump on a table like he's about to lead an army into battle. And I assume there is no way anyone is playing another match on that table without the cloth being replaced. Might as well take a chunk out of the cloth and throw it into the crowd. Maybe even pry off a rail or two. Makes me cringe.

No ones playing on the table afterwards because the tournament is over. More importantly if this is our tradition then it is. No one complains when a golfer jumps in the pond after a win, when football players slash Gatorade on a player or coach or jump up in the stands after a touchdown, a Nascar winners drive on the grass and does donuts for the crowd..., no harm, no foul

No….I was a golfer when I was a kid….one of our regular money players buried his putter in the green after missing a putt….we repaired the green and wouldn’t play with him anymore ….respect your equipment.
Worked the links all thru college.
Damaging a green is quite different than getting on top of a chunk of slate.
Takes time for the damaged green area too recover.
And I find this action''not comparable''.

Yeah it's not for everyone but, the table is going to be removed, purchased by someone wanting it for their ???
Never heard of a slate cracking after this happened.

If any poster here has won the US Open or a Major, then yeah I would like to hear that ''posters'' viewpoints.
The game beats you up to get to the top, and since the table lights are no longer 36'' above the play surface, the jumping occurs.

Hey.... let's BLAME the first person that did it, and ''go after that person'' for bad behavior.
Many posters here are ''Very'' good at finding fault with others.

Tradition... Ok fine but the table still needs newly stretched cloth. Catch me on the TV... I'll flip the table over like Hercules. Right be before I break my back.

If the game needs to draw a bigger crowd. Have the pros start a tradition were they throw all their equipment into the crowd in every TV match, and sponsors refill their bags. Gift day like baseball games too.

A tradition? Sure… if we’re calling every copied celebration a tradition and I guess every tradition has a starting point when it was first done. It’s not something with deep roots in pool history. Feels more like “monkey see, monkey do” than genuine culture. I suspect a lot of it is promoter driven, meant to hype things up for TV and pull in casual fans who know little about the game’s heritage. When Fedor Gorst climbed on the table after winning the world championship last year, he looked reluctant, as if it wasn’t his idea. I’m not big on being told how to celebrate or even what to do especially when it’s “F”-ing silly and it’s even sillier when you are copying or being told to do it. I guess when the promoters are handing you a $250,000 check you might feel obligated. Golfers jumping in ponds or football Gatorade baths aren’t disrespectful to the very equipment the game is played on.

There's a time and a place.
I prefer the....uh , "I have been here before ". Attitudes. Yes it's a great accomplishment but my worthy opponent made it a Big accomplishment.
My first move after the final ball drops is to extend my hand to my opponent. (Well provided he's not an Ass Hat. 🤷‍♂️)
After the respect to opponent comes the celebration. Pretty sure I would take off my clothes before jumping on the table.
Was looking for his clothes off interview but this is semi topic friendly. 🤷‍♂️

The practice table beef reminds me of Brady Golan remark at Sunday morning breakfast. It was on the lines of, " let me play 3 matches back to back on that table and see how He likes it." It was regarding the upcoming finals match. Brady still put a couple of 7s together to win the Spokane open 9 ball event.
Well as I remember it. The numbers might be close estimate. 😉 old timers and CRS factor called. 😉 Might even be 2 stories combined. 😉
Feeling wronged, well Self Righteous Wronged. Leads to my best game. So taking the ball and going home is NEVER an option. I currently have only one on My No Spek to list. 🤷‍♂️ 😉
Others have fallen to the statue of limitation rule. 🤷‍♂️

Agreed and why stop there? Hell, smash your cue into a million pieces like a rock star with his guitar. At least it’s your own equipment. It was probably free anyway, and your sponsor will rush you a replacement with a bow on it just for the exposure. In this world of social media being popular and shock value is the bigger win, it’s about racking up likes, shares, and your own little viral moment. Never mind thinking the game itself was supposed to be the show.

Shaquille O'Neal has openly admitted to fabricating reasons to dislike certain opponents to motivate himself during his playing career. Shaq confessed that he invented a story about former San Antonio Spurs star David Robinson refusing to sign an autograph for him when he was a child. He respected Robinson’s game so much that he felt he needed to create a reason for animosity to be able to play competitively against him. He later apologized to Robinson for the made up story. Who knows what goes on in someone’s head… a lot of motivation are tricks that we play on ourselves. Tricking ourselves into action.

A lot of times we trick ourselves into failure. I see a lot of that type of thinking shared here on AZB. I’m sure not intentionally but you have to read through the noise.
