Aggressive chalking strikes again.

I seen this on Facebook today. I've seen ferrules worn bad but this is the first carbon fiber shaft.

I find this a wee bit hard to believe. Carbon fiber shafts have not been around long enough for that to happen..

According to Facebook post it was chalking not any sort or tip tool or sandpaper.
Im willing to bet the chalk being used there, has real Deep bowl. For the sides to do that to the shaft. You can create that bowl shape, by rolling it around as you chalk. Eventually you will start make that wide burrowing Shape in the cube.

I thought it was from breaking
I believe it might be from poor chalking techniques? Although the abrasions almost seem to low on the shaft unless you are pushing paper.

I was joking a little about just breaking with it, if I broke with that shaft I would be wearing safety glasses.

I agree with your assessment as to being the cause of the concave shape of / damage to the shaft.
