Ahh but I think the game has changed Joey. When you go to the all or a backyard picnic you have certain expectations about how things will go with regard to being civil.
On the internet the rules are changed yet again. I think that with an ide to sell or a living to make must consider the nature of the internet and its operation. So the “hard working” people who choose to come on here and “sell” their wares do so in the context of the net’s way of interacting.
While I agree that the crudeness on the net is one of its limitations but it must be taken for what it is. If it is too hot in the kitchen then perhaps these people should not be here.
I understand what you are saying Joe and you make a reasonable point. The Internet is a vast place. This Main Forum is not.
My point is this forum is that this is a very small group of people who see one another at tournaments all over the country, share a love for pool and all that it entails, "talk" on a regular basis in this forum. We don't have to act like this. There is no protocol on the Internet that I know of that encourages us to be callous or mean-spirited or even that we should tolerate such behavior.
Just because there are forums around the Internet and chat sessions that condone name-calling and some consider that sport or "fun", it doesn't mean that our forum should be that way.
Each of us has the choice to make this forum whatever we choose to by setting an example for others. We also don't have to sit back and let name-calling, cyber-bullying and personal vendettas to be tolerated in this forum either.
If we, in this forum, can't set a decent example for ourselves, we sure as hell should quit whining about pro players, how they live their lives and the state of affairs in pool, in general.
