Air barrels.....what do they expect?

I've been practicing a bit more lately and I've started to notice one particular C player gambling quite a bit. I've noticed his pattern, if he plays with an established player in the room he immediately pays and runs out the door without any hesitation. If he's playing a 'non player' that's not as big as him or he thinks he can scare he'll threaten them into a double or nothing set, and he doesn't always win these.

Anyway he's been pulling this big man routine without having cash for quite some time lately, and he airbarrel's someone that he can't exactly get around in terms of ducking and dodging. Dude tells him that he has 3 options for taking care of the debt. [ which was roughly 150 bucks considering they started out at like 5 or 10 a game means he was doing horrible.] Well player A offers him the three options.

1) give up the keys to his car and write a bill of sale for 150 bucks, when he gets the cash he'll get the car back
2) Hand over the player's sneaky pete, and 1.1 case that doesn't belong to him as payment.
3) walk outside and take a beating like a man.

At this point airbarrel extraordinaire takes the phone and calls the police station. Next day he comes back only to find out he's no longer welcome around, and that some particular people want to find him in public. He has no clue why he isnt allowed back, or why everyone is angry with him.

What do people like this expect when they violate the pool player code and call the cops over something small?

Sorry this is fairly random and kind of a goofy thing but i'm just fuming over stupidity.

there are a couple of guys like this in every pool room in America. People like this give pool the bad image it has. Shooting air barrels is exactly like stealing in my book.

I am a big guy so i avoid some of these problems. But i had a guy one night try to air me for $350, i grabbed his cue and put it in my case and walked out of the bar. Next day he called me and paid me the money.

I know a couple of guys in my local pool hall that do this... And it was sad to see them playing each other one night and telling each other to post up the $20 for the sets they are about to play... LOL

I've only had one time where I had to chase my money around the room.

He was drunk as a skunk and his girlfriend was pissed that he was gambling.

She ended up paying his $230 "tab" and I never saw him around again.

Oh i know

Always demand they post instantly to save a whole lot of issues!!!No post!No game!!::thumbup:

When i do gamble it's posted, he hasn't ever airbarreled me or even attempted to play me other than like 2 dollars a game for him to learn and me to pay for my time. I just don't understand what he expected when he's burning people like this. I mean honestly calling the police and getting involved when it's his own fault... it's just amazing that he expects to be welcomed back with open arms.

JohnnyT had the cure for this...

I tried a search but came up dry...
I know it is here somewhere. JohnnyT had the prescription for dealing with this kind of illness. As a curative, I would put it down as everlasting. Sort of East coast, old school kind of cure. Sort of a painful memories kind of cure.
Alas, sort of a lost art.
A lot of weeping and gnashing of (remaining) teeth would ensure I'm sure.
But a cure none the less.
