Air Bullets .... OK?

Lets say you play a guy for $50 a set and lose 4 straight.
That cleans out your bankroll.
Is it OK to play that 5th set with an air bullet?
Considering he had got all your money, do you think the other player should let it slide if you lose the 5th set?

Never ever do that! For 4 reasons:

1. Never play with money you can not afford to lose!
2. Never play with money you do not have!
3. Never play someone that just kicked the crap out of you for 2 bills unless you were dumping. (doubt you were if you were if you lost all your money) Chances are he will beat you again then kick the crap out of you in the parking lot...
4. If you do this and some how you get to walk away without a busted lip you have now just earned yourself a rep of being some nit that doesn't pay. Try getting a money game with that rep.

your best bet is not to play unless you have the cash to burn. Play someone on your level or get the proper amount of weight.

i agree, you never gamble without money in ur pocket, unless you say up front "im busted, if i lose ill have to pay you later" and the guy agrees.

How strong is this..One night I was playing a guy 60 a game 1pocket..After about 2 hours I'm stuck 300 and we were playing on the coin..TALK ABOUT PRESSURE!!!..I only had 250 in my pocket so I'm on full tilt at this point.I asked him to double the bet ..He agreed..I used the bathroom, washed my face, did my "get in the zone" routine of mental affirmations and confidence boosting.I came out and played like burnin' hell! ..I wound up beating him out of 1200 with another 420 on the rail...

That was one of my finer moments:) :)

Sure.

Hell yeah it's OK if you do this to me. Happens all the time. Let the airbarrel cannons roar, sir. By the way.... I'm NOT serious. Do this in the wrong place and wooohooo, better run a 4.4 forty.

Well, here's the way a lot of gamblers would look at this. He has whatever he had in his pocket prior to starting + $200. So let's just call it $400. If you are gambling on empty, catch a stroke, and then go on to murder the guy at the table, you have the opportunity to win $400 from him. (Remember, your $200 is already his, he won it fair and square.)

So, let's see what you are putting up against his $400. Hmm...Exactly $0.

Does that sound like a good deal to you? For all he knows, 4 sets might be the magic number, and you are about to get so pissed you start running 3 packs until he is blue in the face.

So, when he finds out you are playing on air, to his mind, you are betting absolutely nothing, against his $400. In effect, you are attempting to steal from him.

He just might pop you right in the mouth for doing that. All I know is, you better not try to pull a stunt like this away from home, or if you are an unpopular guy in your home pool room. People's cars get busted up for much less.

I have had this happen.

I played the owner of a poolroom in Florence, SC. some ten dollar nineball. THE OWNER. After he's eighty down, on the string, he tells me I hustled him and he's not giving me a dime. Truly, I wasn't supposed to beat him. That was a pretty flourescent green truck he had. Looked like a rush job on the paint, though.

most of the people I know would lay down a B.O.L. (beating of a lifetime) for that kind of action, and remember, if you are away from your home turf

ALLIES
you:0
them: 2-20
it would be a pretty short fight

You should have still told the guy that you were busted. Let him have the chance to decide if he wants to play on credit.

I've known WilleeCue for years, and I think he's not joking.

Here in Fargo there's kind of a closed community of players, and there's a crowd of the younger players that gamble frequently with each other, and there's a complicated mesh of who owes who what. If Moe wins $50 from Curly, Curly might try to get Moe to get it from Larry, who he claims owes him $80, and Larry in turn is getting $20 a week from Homer, and so on. There's a funny ethic within this group. With a few exceptions, people are good for what they owe, eventually. Reasoning like Willeecue's here probably wouldn't be uncommon. Perhaps it would be considered a little rude, and a little bad form, but these kind of justifications get thrown around. Also I've seen one person "go off" for perhaps $1000 (when the normally gamble much cheaper) and then the other person "let's him off" for $300 or something.

The danger, of course, is when these people leave the cocoon and enter the real world.

nope. you play for it, ya' better have it!

There was a time when firing an air barrel after going bust what somewhat accepted. It was a little before my time but I have heard some of the older players talk about it as if it were almost expected. However, I don't think that's the case if we're only talking about playing $50 sets. I could be mistaken though.

Mike, I am suprised that you say you know me.
Other than the BS days of posting on the newsgroup how could you know me at all!

I asked this question to get opinions.
I have seen losers act as if it was some sort of entitlement to get one last shot at a comeback.

Gambling without having the money in my pocket is something I would not do unless first asking if my credit was good.
Anyone that really does know me knows I pay up what I owe on the spot.
That is the way I roll ... besides the fact I am old and heal slowly.
After losing four sets in a row I doubt I would have any burning desire to play the fifth.

Relax Willee, I wasn't say we are an old married couple or anything. I just meant I've seen you express you opinion on hundreds of things, seen examples of your sense of humor, seen what pushes your buttons, seen you in arguments and how you react....

I suppose you could say I don't know you at all, by some definition of what it means to know somebody..... but .... I was right wasn't I?

Funny you should post this Willie... I played two sets last night... race to 7 for $20 and then race to 5 for $20. I won both. The other guy goes to the ATM... comes back and says he doesn't have the money, but will get it to me later. I let it slide, figuring he's probably good for it, but if not, I don't gamble with him again... $40 isn't much in the long haul... and maybe if he doesn't pay, he may get a bad rep. and not find any other action...

To answer your question, it is my belief that you shouldn't gamble with money you don't have. :p
